Mr. Coffee BVMC-PSTX95 10-Cup Optimal Brew Thermal Coffee Maker, Stainless Steel

    • When the whole interior is brown, I put a dishwasher tab in it, fill it with super hot water, put on the lid, and wait 30 minutes
    • When I straightened the pot upright, hot water leaked from around the cap
    • The water tank holds enough water to brew one pot of coffee and is located on the left of pot.
    • If I want some piping hot coffee, instead of filling it with cold water, I have to put in hot water to enjoy a good cup of HOT coffee
    • I might even just get a hot water kettle and leave the crap world of auto brew.
    • It comes with a replaceable carbon filter for improved water taste.
    • Rinse inside of carafe with hot water first and the coffee will stay piping hot for very long time.
    • If you want your coffee to stay hot for a REALLY long time, run some hot water in pot before brewing for a minute and dump it out, as the pot will respond the same as any thermos.
    • It also comes with a water filter to clear out your tap water - I've never noticed any difference in using water filters for coffee, but it is a nice feature to have
    • It has a convenient water reservoir that lifts in and out of the machine.
    • I guess the water was just too hot for the plastic
    • No "yucky" moldy build-up in an inaccessable-to-clean water reservoir.
    • And the coffee set-up is easy - pouring the water is especially easy for my left-handed (right-brained) wife
    • Then pour the hot water from the carafe into my cup to heat it and push the start button.
    • I just cleaned it and let hot water soak overnight, in the morning the water was still very hot Wow!So
    • But I am guessing these are posted by people who have never had a thermal pot and dont understand you are supposed to "pre warm" a thermal carafe with hot water for w couple of minutes before brewing--"coffee
    • Because the coffee basket is so high on the machine, our toaster fits snugly between the coffee machine and wall, so there’s no wasted space! The water reservoir is removable and holds enough water for 10 “cups” of coffee
    • The water is very hot and it made tea quickly
    • There are a couple more pieces to this unit that need to be washed vs the old unit (the slide-out grounds holder, the grounds basket, the lid of the carafe and the detachable water reservoir and its lid), but really, it only takes about a minute to rinse them all off and place them in a dish drainer for drying
    • The Krups makes coffee within the same "speedy" Mr. Coffee claim and the water temperature thing is a bit bogus because they work by BOILING the water (212 degrees) and the steam drives the water into the filter.
    • I learned a lot about coffee makers, water temp of 198 to 205 degrees, coffee beans, aroma, bean oils, hot water soaking on beans, etc
    • Once done, I poured the hot water into a cup and read the temp
    • I lift it out, place it under my R/O faucet (we use reverse osmosis because we use soft water and do not wish to consume the sodium) and then place it back on the coffee maker unit
    • and yeah, it put hot water through filtered coffee grounds.
    • The water tower is separate on the side so you do not need to use the pot to fill and try to stratigically aim to place water into the machine like old style makers.
    • The built in filtration helps to remove the film that our hard water tends to leave on our coffee also
    • The water should hit the coffee evenly and then drain out the center no one side of it.
    • I ran a cycle of hot water prior to using like the instructions
    • Water feed and coffee grind basket is on the
    • I want to love this coffee maker but unfortunately, the water reservoir leaks
    • Here was the missing water not pumped out of the machine
    • At the end of 30 minutes I dump the soapy water and rinse the pot interior really well with fresh warm water
    • It comes with a hard water filter, which I find actually works (there is a small amount of white lime already: evidence it's filtering the bad stuff out!)
    • The water no longer will drain from the reservoir
    • I diluted arm and hammer soda in clean water
    • I love the detachable water reservoir.
    • This machine is just lovely, carafe leaves the coffee piping hot, haven't had any issues with use but the coffee it produces is so weak I might as well be drinking hot water.
    • The only solutions are to brew bigger pots (and potentially waste coffee), or manually remove the carafe during the brew cycle to extend the time grounds steep with hot water - and risk overflowing the filter basket
    • Turns out if you jam the water reservoir down forcefully a few times into the machine, and press the button, it works
    • Our problem was extra water in the heating section
    • We have poor tasting water which the carbon filters seem to do a good job mitigating
    • Pros:-Fast Brew-Large Carafe that keeps coffee hot for quite awhile-Water Filter-Fresh Brew Timer Feature-Delay
    • Two (2) cleaning cycles, 6 pots of clear water and 6 pots of undrinkable coffee
    • Oct 25 2016 - I have been living with brewing 1/2 pot due to hot water temperature (211F at ground) but within last week, the carafe is getting hot on the outside.
    • Great way to get hot water all over the place
    • Pros:I love the detachable water tank
    • I love the water basin as opposed to filling up the carafe and pouring in coffee
    • At the end of 30 minutes I dump the soapy water and rinse the pot interior really well with fresh warm water
    • The coffee does not drain from the grounds basket anywhere as fast as the hot water is delivered.
    • Just like my last Mr. coffee the fresh water tank always has a dank smellno matter what i do
    • I like not having to fill the coffee pot then pour the water in the maker like on makes I've had in the past
    • The gasket on the bottom side of the lid became unglued after about 2 months; maybe caused by the HOT water.
    • What sold me on this one is the detachable water reservoir
    • I love that you can remove the water reservoir and take to the sink to fill without having to pour water into the coffeemaker like the ones we've used in the past.
    • I ran a load of hot water thru to clean out machine oils, dumped it and made coffee.
    • Removable water well makes filling
    • It leaks water with mixed coffee
    • If you want your coffee to stay hot for a REALLY long time, run some hot water in pot before brewing for a minute and dump it out, as the pot will respond the same as any thermos.
    • large footprint due to the above items basket filter clogs with one brew cycle using my moderately hard water.
    • and I'm frustrated that I wanted to like it so much - the detachable water tank is awesome - that I gave a machine the benefit of the doubt that after a week it would magically brew real coffee.
    • We washed the filter basket, water reservoir and carafe in soap and water, ran clean water through the unit as they instruct, then made coffee
    • Perhaps it is the "blooming" feature that primes the ground beans with hot water before the dripping begins
    • I personally put hot water in carafe before brewing to warm the stainless
    • I don't think the heating element heats the water hot enough to get the coffee out of the grind.
    • If I want some piping hot coffee, instead of filling it with cold water, I have to put in hot water to enjoy a good cup of HOT coffee
    • ( keeping the flavor all there!)I purchased the basket and also mr coffee paper filters and use very pure water.
    • The water tank holds enough water to brew one pot of coffee and is located on the left of pot.
    • If you got water between the black plastic and metal on the carafe, it would leak and drain the water for days
    • For some reason the machine does not heat up water well resulting in weak and warm coffee
    • When I straightened the pot upright, hot water leaked from around the cap
    • Removable clear plastic water compartment on left side that you fill up with water so you don't have to fill up the pot and pour into an opening
    • concerns.1) Like many commented, the water reservoir did have a strong plastic smell, so I went ahead and did a vinegar cleaning before use, and two more clean water rinses.
    • This thing sucks, the coffee tastes like dirty water
    • The filter system is much more likely to cause the machine to leak water all over your counter than actually filter out
    • If you take the lid off to rinse it immediately after brewing, and push the "release" button on it, it will leak that very hot water onto you and potentially burn.
    • We do have excellent quality well-water, so the filtration is really not necessary anyway
    • You will have to make about 8 pots of hot water first to get plastic taste out
    • putting cold water into the carafe would cool it down, which you don't want; instead you may want to preheat it by rinsing it with hot water and letting it sit a few minutes, like you might do for a travel mug)
    • I suspect the water doesn't get hot enough to begin
    • I do not like the set up---water is difficult to poor into the small side area, opens w/a lid--
    • I love the fact that the water or coffee stays warm inside the insulated carafe enough to drink without using the microwave even after a few hours sitting.
    • After running a fourth through, I used the hot water to steep a teabag
    • My solution to the troublesome water tank was to leave the tank on the machine and pour water from a pitcher or water bottle
    • The issue is that the inflow of hot water into the filter tub is higher that the how fast the filter tub can drain the coffee
    • The clean cycle has to have been cycled (my water is not hard) recently
    • Caveat, I do rinse the carafe out with hot water before brewing, I have always done that.
    • My water is city water, with a water softener as well as a water filtration system, so needless to say, it's pretty clean and tastes like bottled water.
    • I even run hot water into the carafe before brewing to help "warm it up," but it just doesn't stay super hot.
    • Now it brews very weak coffee, tastes like hot water
    • First one finally died after years of hard water usage, even with regular cleanings.
    • Top that off with the fact that this carafe is metal, not glass so less breakable or worrying about hot pots refilled with cold water etc,,,.AND that I can pull the pot out mid cycle and grab a cup quicly
    • After running a fourth through, I used the hot water to steep a teabag
    • The ledge o. the top of the fresh water tank also tends to grow slime VERY quickly
    • I have had it for two weeks and still can’t find a good water to coffee ratio
    • putting cold water into the carafe would cool it down, which you don't want; instead you may want to preheat it by rinsing it with hot water and letting it sit a few minutes, like you might do for a travel mug)
    • The water filter is nice though we have well water and don't need chemicals removed for
    • It boasts a connoisseur's "bloom feature," which means that, while the water is still cold, the coffee grounds are saturated with water for 30 seconds before it starts heating up
    • residuethat builds-up inside the coffee-maker) to replaceable water-filters that are super-simple to swap-out
    • So, I did the clean cycle using vinegar just like the booklet says, including running 2 pots of clear water through
    • In fact, I put about a cup of instant hot water in the carafe first.
    • The water stays hot as described.
    • If you take the lid off to rinse it immediately after brewing, and push the "release" button on it, it will leak that very hot water onto you and potentially burn.
    • Convenient water container is removable.
    • I did run the self cleaning setting with water/vinegar and then ran just water through twice after to clean the coffee maker
    • The machine to make it should be stupid simple: pour the hot water over the grounds and catch it in a container, that's it.
    • Works as you would expect, keep that java flowing!
    • Second, if I put more than 3 tablespoons of ground coffee in the reusable basket, that I had to order on its own, tons of ground coffee gets blasted everywhere in the basket and water filter, as well as coming through into the coffee.
    • I have a Keurig coffee maker and as much as I love the convenience, the cost of buying k-cups daily is expensive and the coffee is not always as strong as in a coffee maker
    • The water reservoir is easy to clean as it comes off in a single unit to carry to the sink for a good, soapy wash.
    • Does not spread the water over the grains as well as it could, but not badly either.
    • The carafe fits snug into the housing, and prevents as good as it can to prevent any heat loss for the coffee dripping into it
    • The lid of the carafe could use some revamping to make it easier to clean as I have concerns about what could grow in it over
    • Being in a caraffe it does not burn and you can even heat the coffee up in the microwave and its as good as it was when first brewed.
    • This coffee seems just as good as with our slower machine, so they must have something with their claim to have hit the right temperature for the brew to enable them to do it faster
