It has both a loud hum and fan noise.

Hardly any noise and setup was a breeze

People complaining about fan noise need to realize this is outside the typical realm of consumer grade switches, it has a fan, needs a fan, and well, fans make noise in switches

I havent noticed any loud fan noises coming from the switch, like some other reviewers noted

The horrible noise of the fan with zero load was already annoying

The unit works beautifully and I love the separation of LEDs from the connectors, but my first two units (of three) had a very loud buzzing noise in the fan

It's a GB-E Switch and works well... as it should!
