NETGEAR Nighthawk X6S AC4000 Tri-band WiFi Router, Gigabit Ethernet, MU-MIMO, Compatible with Amazon Echo/Alexa (R8000P)

    • Except for the fact that the latest firmware is garbage and I have to power
    • I tried a factory reset, unplugging it, upgrading the firmware, all the usual, but nothing would work
    • Router failed to update it's firmware and is stuck in white/orange power light blinking
    • I got the outlet timer and that eliminated the problem shown above.90 days later... or rather 90 days plus one week: Netgear Genie told me there was a firmware update available, so I ran it
    • I didn't read the 1 star reviews carefully - turns out this router has a firmware bug that periodically kills all traffic
    • Looking on google, there are other forum started with other people with the same problem as mine and it seems the only solution for now is to downgrade the firmware to lower version.
    • I knew right away there was an issue with immature firmware very
    • And now their new bad firmware is forcing customers to pay netgear to call customer service to fix it.
    • After trying all the usual fixes (among them: factory resets, downgrading firmware, & reducing the MTU size)
    • I started researching and found others had the same issue and some reported it as a firmware issue and I should downgrade the firmware.
    • Due to user error (the router was accidentially powered off in the middle of a firmware update which broke it)
    • Constant drops and ranging speed issues on top of netgears lack of a resolution via a stable firmware update
    • I asked to speak to a senior tech, because honestly I'm not going down some rabbit hole chasing a problem caused by insufficient QA on their buggy firmware
    • I shouldn't have to downgrade the firmware to make an expensive router work reliably
    • Come on Netgear someone purchasing 300.00 plus router needs a refined mature firmware this is sad
    • I started setting up the AC4000 and ran into very buggy firmware
    • DO THIS STEP, the newer firmware is more stable
    • did a quick troubleshoot and people were saying the new firmware was the problem.
    • The router met my expectations: easy setup, reliable, multiple channels, easy firmware updates
    • As with our last Netgear router, we found that this has a very easy set up
