NETGEAR Smart WiFi Router with Dual Band Gigabit for Amazon Echo/Alexa - AC1750 (R6400-100NAS)

    • Must "Log In" to a remote account to access data on YOUR storage media (USB Hard Drive, USB Thumb Drive) and the app will NOT always work even with proper user name/password
    • Really like the shared wireless flash drive (local drive) option as well through the downloadable app.
    • Greater router; easy to set-up, internet seems pretty fast, love that I can hook up an external hard drive for Time Machine backups
    • Like the option for external hard drive and parental controls
    • -- Bought on Ebay (that's why the purchase isn't verified on Amazon), to connect an external 3.0 USB hard drive for use as a Time Machine backup
    • Now if I'm lucky enough to have it recognize a USB hard drive at all (one that is even on Netgear's approved list), after a few hours the router no longer thinks it's plugged in and the only resolution is to reboot the router
    • I would also have chosen to put the main USB port either on the top (a good place for a USB stick) or the back (where the other USB port is and a better place to connect a hard drive cable.
    • and I can access my hard drive from any device from my router
    • strength! Now signal and speed will reach 100 Mbps on 2.4 GHz channel (180 Mbps on 5GHz channel), while upstairs has 18 Mbps download speed using Chromebook to run speed tests offered at fast.com.USB thumb drive works beautifully on the Netgear ReadyShare USB port, just unsure if portable hard drive will work the same.

    • The connections and gaining access to a cloud storage hard drive was a snap and connection to a printer was easy too
    • Bottom line is don't expect to use the USB port for a hard drive.
    • I am also using the USB storage with a USB hard drive.
    • Love that I can reach my external hard drive from anywhere
    • I wanted to set up a media server from a usb hard drive via the usb 3 port to host media for my house
    • Installed a USB hard drive to the router and have been able to access it from 4 home computers
    • To help with it's already excellent ventilation, I am using the USB 2.0 port (which i don't use for an external hard drive) to power a laptop cooler where this R6400 sits on.
    • The only thing I don't like is that it does not seem to allow the hard drive I have attached to the USB 3 port to sleep.
    • Also, love the USB integration, added my HP 1 TB hard drive to the router and now i can access photos and other files while i'm at home on my other devices (iphone, ipad, mac and pc)
    • The 3.0 USB port is great for my external hard drive.
    • Faster than my Apple Time Capsule, it also has a crazy number of features and settings including free Dynamic IP addressing and the ability to share printers or an attached hard drive just like a NAS would
    • FAST and perfect!I have around 24 devices on my network and the speed is outstanding
