I congratulate NETGEAR for just how simple and clean they have made the whole set up process of their network router devices, ... and I have over a decade of experience with home network set up and tweaking.

Other than the limited amount of control on wireless bands (throttling), Netgear makes a great product, easy to understand interface, and continues to state updated when new firmware comes out.

This issue is so severe that US-CERT (Computer Emergency Readiness Team) is now highly recommending that use of these devices be discontinued immediately until Netgear can patch the issue with a firmware update

Once the initial 90 day free phone support runs out Netgear will charge you 70% of the purchase price, $90, for phone support

My Netgear has been reliable and provided great coverage of my house when other devices haven't been.

We got this in December 2016 to replace an old Netgear N300 router that worked but needed semi-frequent resetting

I don't blame Netgear for this as the problem with the poor signal could be due to my apartment and for that reason this did not figure into how I rated this product

This Netgear was recommended by several people and they did not disappoint

Anyway, thanks Netgear for making a brilliant router that is quality and lasts the test of time.

Netgear has no free support available after 3 months

It could be that Netgear expects to work with a Windows based system and that Mac just doesn't seem to be on their priority list

Previous NetGear died after about three years.

This NETGEAR is easy to set up, and easy to monitor using the "genie" app on your iPhone and/or android device

Netgear offers a 1 year warranty, so I was hopeful that Netgear would fix the problem.

If my ON/OFF switch breaks on this device then I would say Netgear has a serious quality control problem with the manufacture of their routers, but not their design.Edit Review

It still has some warranty coverage left, but as others have found out, the warranty is useless past 90 days since Netgear won't provide any support without paying to talk to someone which is quoted at $49.99 for the cheapest plan (more than half what I paid for this router last year).

I've used Netgear for years with great success and highly recommend this unit.

I am unaware of any patches or updates Netgear has issued since that article has been written (11Dec16) but I will revise my review upon receiving a patch that fixes the security vulnerabilities this router has

So far the Netgear has been rock solid!

On the Netgear support site there's an option for hardware replacement.

I suspect Netgear intentionally creates this bug or technical glitch on their routers so that they can make more money through the unreasonably greedy consulting service in addition to selling the routers themselves

My new Netgear AC1750 Smart Wi-Fi Router (R6400) is reliable.

We have lost a day of work, still don’t have internet, Netgear doesn’t care in the least.

Netgear has known about this issue for a full four months now and has done absolutely nothing about it, nor have they even bothered to respond or make a statement about this vulnerability.
