• Reviews around connection (3.12 of 5)

NETGEAR WiFi AC1200 Range Extender (EX6200)

    • The connection is intermittent
    • I tried to use for VOIP phone and the connection goes from fine to useless randomly.
    • This has definitely improved my wifi connection back onto my room
    • its great when it works but constantly loses connection after a couple of days
    • I lost both the 2.4/5GHz connections, or one would appear, and one wouldn't
    • That is, provide five very fast wired internet connections in my media center.
    • My wi-fi connection to the host is not the best, but AT LEAST the unit should recover when satisfactory connection resumes.
    • The unit allows for a strong connection up to 100 feet from my home
    • it Loses its connection multiple times a day
    • It has boosted my connection in my house and even outside on my porch and patio
    • But for task that require reliable internet connection like online gaming, it does give me a headache
    • I can now cut the grass 10ft approximately around the house and never lose my internet connection
    • ** extremely fast Internet connection, A must buy
    • The extender itself was fast and the connection was stable
    • Set up was so easy, great connection
    • I'll be using the internet and I randomly lose connection, forcing me to get up and unplug the extender and wait for it to reconnect.
    • I purchased this router for the one purpose of better connection of gaming
    • and I now have good connection throughput my home.
    • Even though the status interface shows good connections with the primary router and bridged devices are working acceptably, connecting to the WIFI can be prolonged and performance is sometimes good, sometimes abysmal.
    • if you have poor internet connection like I had, but no more!!!!
    • This connected great over 5Ghz and was able to broadcast a solid 5Ghz & 2.4Ghz connection
    • What I mean is, when is connected the transfer rates are superb, however the main problem it has and as I can see more people are having same issue, just check the forum for it, it looses connection to the WiFi base every other 2-3 days
    • After the installation of the new router, I noted some persistent “dead zones” where connection from the existing network was poor or nonexistent.
    • FastLane is still not performing as it should (i.e. using the 5 GHz band between the extender and the main router, wired connections to the extender are fine but wireless connections via the 2.4 GHz band are still incredibly slow).
    • The connection is also very stable
    • Once or twice a month it will lose the connection to my Netgear Nighthawk, which then requires a power cycle of the range extender to resume operation of my connected devices
    • Otherwise, any of my applications that accessed my work network would hang quite often -- so much so, that my connection to work was pretty much unusable.
    • I bought this as a gift for my parents who had struggled to get a good Wifi connection in their backyard.
    • I get some signal from my router all over the house -- I was simply hoping a $100 extender would give me great connections in those rooms where it's usually a little weak
    • you will feel almost like a wired connection (well that is an exaggeration) but it will most likely blow your old setup out of the water
    • it auto loads you to Netters setup wizard that guides you through the process of setting up your 2.4ghz connections as well as setting up your 5ghz connection, and also asks if you would like to rename your connections
    • Devices should be connected through the extender network only where the Wi-Fi device is in a “dead zone” where connection from the existing network is poor or nonexistent.
    • But very strong and fast connection.
    • People cannot speak English so you can understand them, terrible connections and the background noise is deafening!
    • Connection is very spotty
    • If I move it further away the connection gets even worse
    • We're also rural, so it isn't a fast connection to start with, but it was worse than dialup speeds before I plugged this in because the connection regularly dropped
    • FastLane is still not performing as it should (i.e. using the 5 GHz band between the extender and the main router, wired connections to the extender are fine but wireless connections via the 2.4 GHz band are still incredibly slow).
    • We had issues at first where we kept losing the main router connection
    • The 2.4 service was unable to establish good connection.
    • The connection, when I tried a powerline setup before, was always more stable although I didn't get the 5G speed that this delivers
    • Speeds over 5Ghz never lost our 100Mbit connection however the 2.4Ghz struggled with other signals near by and speeds slowed
    • It still functions for devices that don't need a constant stable connection.
    • It has enabled my son to get a much better connection.
    • because I work from home, having a constant connection is important
    • still looses connection the next day or 2
    • I finally thought I had it placed in the best location and the box was able to maintain consistent connection
    • The EX6200 is an AC1200 class device and has a theoretical connection top end of 1200 megabits per second
    • I live in a house that is three levels and in a portion of the house I built a family room at the far end where my network would not reach I placed the netgear ac 1200 close to the entrance of the family room and my connection is great with my iPad, iPhone , and smart tv.
    • First disappointment: I tried to have it on my desk, about 10m (30ft) away from the router, but with two walls in between and the connection was not stable at all
    • I've also been hardwiring my devices for a more stable connection and that's been a breeze
    • On the down side this does not always provide the strongest signal and my devices seem to lose their connections more easily than before.
    • Connection is always intermittent at best, just 13 months after purchasing.
    • I ended up unplugging it because the connection was inconsistent even though the main router was located just one floor above it.
    • Nice router with good connection speeds
    • After those two days it would loose connection and I would have to reset every 4-5 hours for unit to work.
    • But once set up, it had a very hard time maintaining an adequate connection
    • Valve only recommends wired connections for Steam streaming, but this device absolutely gives you a good enough connection to achieve it over the air
    • Very fast, reliable connection
    • Works for a few days then loses connection.
    • Theoretically, this should allow for extended range but usually only results in a more stable connection between the two devices
    • Compared to that unit, this has better connection to the primary router (also Netgear) and seems to use the Beamforming technology well
    • We get more consistent and faster connections when connected to this wifi extender.
    • I believe the highest tier available currently is AC1900 which allows for a theoretical connection top end of 1900 megabits per second
    • I also have another WiFi access point (Apple Time Capsule) in the center of the house, but it just wasn't enough to get a reliable WiFi connection in the master bedroom
    • Not as strong as I though it would be
    • well i
