Fantastic Router, has been a great buy for my house as it was badly needed.

After fiddling with this thing for weeks - moving around the antennas, re-orienting the unit, trying different settings - I finally gave up and bought an Edimax portable travel router the size of a pack of gum at Fry's for $15, which turned out to work much better despite having no external antenna at all.(I read online that this unit can be flashed with DD-WRT, the free open-source router firmware, and turned into a full-function router

My WPA2 settings are pretty vanilla, but maybe it's a compatibility issue with the junky FV2200 router that my ISP provided, not sure

We've been having trouble getting reliable wifi in two rooms of the house, despite trying several different centrally-located & expensive routers.

Again, your router must support the 5ghz band in order to do this.

Easy to set up and a good option if you don't want to move your existing router to improve you range.

Like I said, the router is used for the interior and it has power to spare for that purpose while the extender covers the rest

Definitely go with the EX6200, it's great and can even been reworked with DD-WRT into a nice, full-featured router if you ever want to play with that.

The router wireless does not cover our entire home and customer service at Xfinity told me that the routers do not do well in "old" homes with lathe and plaster walls

A "G" router didn't play well with this.
