• Reviews around speed (3.50 of 5)

NETGEAR WiFi AC1200 Range Extender (EX6200)

    • I also found that the 2g speeds are somewhat slower (by about 25%) on the Netgear extender than on my Time Warner Cable Wifi Router - though it should be noted that we get an extra bar indicating greater reception
    • This new standard offers better speed, improved reliability, and more range than older WiFi networking standards
    • Internet speed is acceptable and I do not have any applications running in the outbuilding the need exceptional speed
    • For the first month or so it was fairly dependable and speed was very good since using as extender automatically drops speed in half
    • And slow speeds
    • Yesterday I bought a second extender because I was not getting good speeds in my basement
    • Further, I do not get significant net speed degradation as compared to not using an extender.
    • Speeds over 5Ghz never lost our 100Mbit connection however the 2.4Ghz struggled with other signals near by and speeds slowed
    • Overall, I like the AC1200, but I would caution using it with Uverse to boost speed.
    • Extender had very good range but did slow the download speed from 16megs to 6.5 megs.
    • The speed does not compare to our wired connection, however, it is SUBSTANTIALLY better than what we were receiving and I am very pleased with the results.
    • Although placed only 15 feet from the unit the speed can be very slow or very fast but inconsistent
    • Did I say OBVIOUS better coverage and speed?
    • Although I wish that the "Fast Lane" Technology could use both antennas on 2.4ghz for better speeds, the standard repeater mode is still amazing, even for gaming on wireless N 2.4ghz
    • Exceptional coverage, the wifi speed tripled using a 5th generation dual band Apple router
    • very good speed
    • This makes my speed slow and unreliable.
    • I thought the AC1200 might improve the speed
    • I have all netgear products to connect wifi and still spotty reception and speeds
    • and still it gives about 10% of the available speed
    • Again, my speeds were fast and strong
    • Rock solid high speed internet in every room in the house for the first time.
    • The external antennas that improve signal quality, coupled with the fact that the device has 5 Gigabit Ethernet Ports *and* a USB connection (for a READYSHARE storage device or a printer) make it a perfect fit for a tech-heavy home where you want a strong high-speed signal for a lot of devices
    • With this repeater, you can use one band for the access point (2.4Ghz, for example) and the other band to bridge to your wireless router (5GHz, for example).I tried to use this device with an Asus AC66 router, but I couldn't get high enough throughput speeds, always much slower than a direct access to the router, and barely faster than HomePlug devices, despite having the device report "full" connections
    • Its range is really short (it should be very close to your router in order to give a good speed
    • Disappointing speed when I connect to this booster
    • We are thinking of getting another and replacing the WD my net extender, it would probably help with even faster speed.
    • This setup (see diagram here: http://goo.gl/tuhBLX) gives amazing speeds
    • The speed was also pathetic
    • Using a R6300 as main wireless router and this EX6200 as the extender and the combination gives me OBVIOUS better coverage and speed then an Apple 2TB Time capsule as the main router with an Apple Airport Express as the extender
    • Advertised speeds are not very realistic, but performance and signal strength are drastically improved from my previous 802.11b/g/n network
    • Advertised speeds are not very realistic, but performance and signal strength are drastically improved from my previous 802.11b/g/n network
    • work well, super high speed when you use the Ethernet cable.
    • The speeds are fantastic
    • With this repeater, you can use one band for the access point (2.4Ghz, for example) and the other band to bridge to your wireless router (5GHz, for example).I tried to use this device with an Asus AC66 router, but I couldn't get high enough throughput speeds, always much slower than a direct access to the router, and barely faster than HomePlug devices, despite having the device report "full" connections
    • Time Warner in my area made me swap out my Netgear Router for their Arris cable modem/router (TG1672) for Internet & Phone in order to get faster internet speed
    • No speed loss at all either
    • The speed is very inconsistent on this product
    • It improves the speed at the expense of flexibility.
    • but now we have signal around my whole property with super fast speed
    • For me, it actually seems like I got improved performance and link speed with the firmware upgrade, especially when using the Windows (Samba) file share I setup on my router for shared network storage
    • She couldn't understand what I was trying to tell her and kept repeating that the slow speeds I was getting from the ex6200 were because of "settings" in my wifi router
    • I have Verizon Fios 75/75Mbps and was getting poor speed from a second PC attached wirelessly.
    • My Moto X can connect to the 5G downstairs in the basement and pulls down great speeds
    • The interface for setting whether you want to boost speed or boost coverage area was easy to find.
    • Gigabit Ethernet Ports x 5-Wireless Printing-ReadyShare USB802.11AC is a new wireless standard that allows for faster speeds and extended range
    • For those of you who are unfamiliar, 5ghz frequency can carry 3x the speed of 2.4, however not good at long range
    • Speed good
    • I am very impressed by this Range extender, it really improved the speed and range of the wifi signal, I had been using a Asus RT-N12 and was getting download speeds around 10mbps, with the Netgear
    • I use it on my 5ghz network, which this unit is fine with, and I get pretty decent speeds that way, around 100mbit
    • Improves wi-fi range and speed significantly
    • The result is that I now get outrageous speeds from my Roku, FireTV and Dell Laptop in the basement, which only supports 2.4 speeds
    • Sending it back because you lose speed with it.
    • The speeds are faster on a wireless than I've ever seen
    • My router is in the basement of a large house and this really improved the speed of the wireless in the third floor of my home
    • Nice router with good connection speeds
    • Just for kicks, after a few days I switched back to using EX6200's 2.4GHz radio, and this time I got better speeds
    • I found it s bit strange that there was no hard-wired connection from this device to my router, but speeds do not seem to suffer at all
    • So for extending connection it's great, but the speed isn't too impressive
    • After carefully following the directions, it worked perfectly and the only slow speeds are the result of a computer that should be replaced.
    • In my opinion and from from what I can see from the countless speed test that I take everyday, so far this product is working at it should, I am getting the right speed speed that I am paying from TWC which by the way in my honest opinion is a disgrace to the cable company communities all around the world.
    • Awesome extender, great range and speed, easy setup.
    • amazing device with unpredictable speed and performance
    • Although my office is only about 100 ft from where I planned to set up the repeater, I didn't think a cheaper repeater could get through all the walls and give me good download speeds
    • Speed wasn't great either, although I did NOT use both 2.4 and 5GHZ to get the full bandwidth
    • The speed was only slightly better than my own router, but the range was less
    • Great range, speed, easy set up
    • The result is that I now get outrageous speeds from my Roku, FireTV and Dell Laptop in the basement, which only supports 2.4 speeds
