Nikon 55-200mm f/4-5.6G ED IF AF-S DX VR [Vibration Reduction] Nikkor Zoom Lens Bulk packaging (White box, New)

    • It is a zoom, so the long range can mean slow focus from one end to the other, but if you want rocket fast focusing buy a high price prime lens and not a budget zoom
    • It has fast and quiet focusing and the resolution is sharp!
    • Focus works good enough for me during daytime
    • Zoom and auto focus are very responsive.
    • Mine is super clear, the focus is fast and the zoom is smooth
    • Be aware that it is almost completely made of plastic, is a slow lens that doesn't qualify for low light use, it has a pretty slow autofocus, a crappy manual focus ring, and no manual focus override
    • Super sharp images, reasonably fast focus times, and the VR feature is amazing.
    • The automatic focusing is dead-
    • The only reason I can't give it 5 stars is because of the awful manual focus.
    • Zooming in all the way, it is tricky to get sharp focus 100% of the time, as it would be for any zoom lens, but with VR (vibration reduction) turned on, this is helped and with enough lighting, vibration isn't an issue.
    • The manual focus ring is small and requires very little effort to rotate, so manually focusing can be somewhat frustrating
    • The autofocus works well most of the time and is reasonably quick, but even in excellent lighting it seems to occasionally (maybe 1 out of 50 pictures) have trouble finding the initial focus for fast moving or distant objects, and would spend about 2 seconds running the focus from stop to stop before finding the proper focus.
    • But when I found out there was an AF-S telephoto for less than $250, I just had to buy it!This lens works great, takes great pictures, and is super focused (and super stable especially at long distances thanks to the VR technology).
    • Nice sharp focus, and the VR feature helps keep the image steady.
    • Focus is great with manual
    • I own also the very, slow focusing and steady 55-300 and I definitively make much sharper pictures with it than with the 55-200 because the sight stays where I want it to be
    • In fact with $500 I would go for the (also consumer) 70-300 f/4-5.6 VR which has VR-2 and a decent focus motor (though I haven't tested
    • But I compensate for this by just waiting until my subject is at least 4 feet away so that I can get the best focusing opportunity
    • Slow auto focus, and inaccurate auto focus at times are my two biggest complaints, but that doesn't happen enough to be a real issue, until lately
    • Crisp and clear, decent focus speed.
    • It really allows the background to be blurred and the subject to stand out in sharp focus
    • It has difficulties sometime when focusing on something at around 200mm
    • When used for candid or portrait shots, the zoom makes beautifully rendered shallow depth-of-field shots (where the subject is in perfect focus, but the background is blurry.)Manual focus on this lens isn't perfect, but for the price, you can't expect too much.
    • Decently fast focusing makes tracking objects easy
    • Great zoom, clarity, and fast focus
    • Focus is fast and sharp with only some blur in low-light
    • I have only purchased Nikon lenses for my camera because I'm not sure how well the other name brands will work as far as focus and such
    • SO make sure to take a lot of pictures because half of them won't be perfect focus
    • The lens is sharp, well balanced, and fast focusing
    • Slow lens, slow autofocus, will have problems auto focusing in low light conditions.
    • It zooms in quite a bit and makes a good lens for some shallow focus.
    • It is a zoom, so the long range can mean slow focus from one end to the other, but if you want rocket fast focusing buy a high price prime lens and not a budget zoom
    • ft minimum focus distanceAutofocus likes to do tedious round-trips through its entire range
    • Keep in mind that with a telephoto with this focal length, you have to be a few feet away to get good focus on anything
    • , the real problem is when it misses focus and has to hunt then it can be rather sluggish
    • the auto focus does not working well, the picture taken by this lens seems not in perfect focus, there are noice
    • Great auto focusing, although we prefer to use it manually.
    • The silent wave motor (SWM) focus system is not very silent; however, it achieves very sharp focus in good light.
    • And, as others have said, the manual focusing is thin/small, but only a concern for those who aren't going to use it in Auto Focus Mode
    • With the slow auto focus, I could not get one sucessful shot with moving bird in right focus
    • Fairly fast focus and crisp photos
    • With the slow auto focus, I could not get one sucessful shot with moving bird in right focus
    • The narrow manual-focusing ring is even-turning but also underdamped, with a very short turning radius for fast, if coarse, manual focusing
    • Nikon doesn't really offer any telephoto zooms that have the whole package of desirable features, which in my view includes reasonable weight, VR, good sharpness across their range, and good focus performance.
    • When using the zoom at 200mm, the autofocus constantly clicks (like it's hunting for proper focus), and the pictures all come out blurred - more like double vision - in bright light.
    • It supports auto-focus, and brings far away images into crystal clarity
    • Nothing takes your breath away more than a photo of your child who is in crisp focus while the background blurs in the distance.
    • I like use 200mm, and the len auto focus well to any object, or person, I just like it.
    • For that, you'd need to shell out a few grand to buy a nice f/2.8 zoom lens that will do wonders, but for this price, you can't beat this quality in decent lighting
