Nikon AF-S FX NIKKOR 85mm f/1.4G Lens with Auto Focus for Nikon DSLR Cameras

    • It needed +20 focus adjustment to get a reasonable sharpness on my D3S, which is too much for its reputation
    • and it is very critical for me to have enough sharpness in corners (which D can't deliver)
    • This newer version will work with more cameras and includes the latest coatings which will enhance the sharpness (as if it needed any help there) and flare minimization
    • No wonder this is the best DXOMark-ranked lens, it brings out sharpness, clarity, bokeh and colors I never thought possible before
    • Sharpness wise, it's a toss-up between this lens and my Zeiss Makro-Planar
    • It has an awesome sharpness (edge to edge even at 1.4), the DOF handling it's outstanding, the color rendering it's amazing
    • One the things I have experienced using it wide open (i.e., f1.4) with this lens is that the shallow depth of field can be very thin and any slight movements of the subject will cause the image to lose the sharpness
