Looks like NuTone had a bad design because many are sold.

I am on replacement number 3, the last one was purchased in Sept 2016, this replacement heater element is ether a defective design or defective manufacturing and has the potential to short out and start a fire

Based on my experience I will not buy this type of heater again, I am thinking the proper design for this type of heater should be to toggle the heating element ON and OFF with timer relay, so it does not overheat and burn it self out, just like how most of the electric heaters work.

I like best though is the extremely modular design of the unit (light, vent fan, heater) that made it so easy to replace the failing part
