NVIDIA Shield TV | 4K HDR Streaming Media Player

    • Since it runs a custom version of Android and Android TV interface, you have limited apps in the Google Play Store.
    • None of the other apps struggle like VUDU.
    • The Shield has an intuitive and easy to use interface, and apps such as Plex, Kodi, Netflix, Youtube TV, and many others are natively supported
    • This product does not tell you that the apps available are severely limited
    • Their app store is constricted to only a few "approved" apps
    • Google should've just used regular android with a custom TV launcher.the android TV store is basically empty compared to the regular store, installing APKs is possible but is very annoying, and getting the apps to show up on the homescreen, also annoying, installing Chrome is possible, then you have to use a keyboard and mouse AND remote as there is no back button
    • Setting up all my favorite apps Netflix, Hulu, Amazon video were a breeze.
    • which can be quickly and easily installed on the ShieldTV with a thumb drive; the app works flawlessly
    • It can play any audio or video file type with the right app
    • Ease of using the 2 most popular free TV/Movie apps: When I used the Voice Search function on Nvidia, it kept directing me to TV shows that would cost me $ instead of helping me find the same show using a free app
    • Some apps are buggy
    • You can stream live TV with the right apps if you
    • I have both FireTV and Fire Sticks and have found them just as good using apps and better pricing.
    • Those same apps run perfectly fine on the firestick
    • Just not enough "horsepower" under the hood to run difficult apps
    • YouTube TV > Hulu TV, better app (phone/mobile and on streaming devices), unlimited DVR, no buffering issues (had a fair amount of those with Hulu), 1 extra stream
    • apps works fine as well but you'll have to jump through some hoops to get non "TV" apps to work correctly.

    • Only Fire TV devices get the cool new app
    • and i would really love a cw app
    • Along with the many apps available on Google play that you do not get with Roku
    • This product does not tell you that the apps available are severely limited
    • Android TV Play store is lacking apps
    • Amazon’s Fire TV, for example, features the excellent Amazon Photos app, while Apple TV features the iOS photos app
    • Random app crashes
    • Any apps that don’t have an equivalent for big-screen TVs are disabled
    • This means you can install android apps like Chrome via the Play Store
    • It works great on the Shield as I have wireless keyboard/mouse combo, FLIRC adapter and multiple game controllers connected at once.5
    • If you haven't seen the Shield TV yet, the difference between the awesome abilities of Android TV won't be missed as you'll be busy watching whatever it is that you're streaming
    • Even after a factor reset, it was no where near as fast as it should be
    • Yes there’s a $110 difference, but holy cr*p is it better
