For those of us w/ a LOT of media, Plex is the pinnacle of enjoying your own media with the best interface possible (and it's free); whereas KODI is the best way for streaming media from the internet

Nvidia really done their homework on this one with a very clean and simple interface and regular updates

The Mi Box was the best all-rounder with a decent interface and remote, but sadly underpowered

Excellent interface, extremely fast response times, and effortlessly plays titles that my Minix Neo U1 would crash upon playing

The bonus was it actually turns my AVR and TV off/on with the power on the shield... this pretty much does everything I've used my HTPC and Chromecast for, but with a much nicer interface...

Don't get me wrong, the interface of the Shield TV is decent, but it just doesn't offer that much over the interfaces of smart TVs or even last generation game consoles

half of that is due to the fact that the remote is just terrible at responding to input and half is the crazy interface Nvidia dreamed up

Clearly the interface is snappy, the hardware is great, and it's a cool device on other fronts (4K capabilities, gaming, etc.)

Google TV has a good interface and it has access to Amazon, unlike Apple TV

The processing speed is phenomenally and the interface is excellent

If that's all you need, though, you might consider saving some money and going with either a Roku or Fire TV, but I will say that I prefer the interface of the Shield TV to either of those options

So if you're going to game with one controller, would recommend using Moonlight app on the shield tv, as it's much smoother than nvidia app

After one month of using I have noticed that my Nvidia Shield TV (2017) has started to overheat (up to 70 C), the interface started to stutter, video playback started to lag and the game controller started to press its keys by itself
