OBi202 2-Port VoIP Phone Adapter with Google Voice and Fax Support for Home and SOHO Phone Service

    • I'm just wary and suspicious of "free services"
    • Highly reccomend this for anyone who enjoys home phone service.
    • Now if you want get free phone service in USA & Canada from Google Voice VOIP service & use it with OBI then download[...]Moving on, if after following the instructions & you're still not connected then continue reading but only if you are encountering either of these two problems I experienced below
    • This device not only supports up to 4 VOIP services, it also supports internet fax with the T.38 standard (this will only work if your service provider supports internet fax)
    • Google Voice is still working so the service is free.
    • Get Obi... have free phone service!
    • Dialing plans make using cheap services like nonoh.net and freephoneline.ca completely transparent to the user
    • This device was marketed as hardware that allows Google Voice users to connect to GV (which is a free service) and use their regular house phone,
    • The service was overall very disappointing and was hoping to find another solution
    • So Verizon jumped up another $2.00 on my Home Phone bringing my monthly total to $34.86 for dial tone, that's right dial tone with no caller I.D., no call waiting, Call forwarding or any other service available
    • I highly recommend it to anyone (particularly newbies) interested in dropping their POTS line in favor of cheap VOIP service (or even free google voice).
    • Google Voice does not guarantee 911 emergency service on assigned phone numbers
    • While it does cost 12-15 dollars a year for e911 service (something I would recommend buying) this is less than paying the regulatory fees on my old ooma
    • My biggest beef with this program is that the software had to be updated constantly and the service would stop working because it wasn't updated.
    • With google voice you have free phone service.
    • Good concept, but it still lacks everything it needs to be a good service
    • What can you say that is not great about free VOIP service
    • Once configured, you receive free home phone service and it can be configured to support e911 service with just a few clicks.
    • If you researching the secret of truly free phone service, the OBi202 will get you there, don't tell anyone ;)
    • I ported our already cheap 8x8 service that cost about $20/month to Voip
    • Free phone service, what more can you say.
    • The most popular is Google Voice, and it works great as a phone service
    • Service seems to have improved as well.
    • This gadget was not difficult to install, and it has provided trouble-free service.
    • it's no longer FREE phone service after 6 months time.
    • I hooked this up using Google voice (another awesome free service), and I now have a working land-line without needing a computer or any other equipment.-Calls
    • Best phone service ever.
    • Saves $40 a month from Comcast and GV is a better service
    • Easy to set up and Google Voice is a great free Voip service.
    • It's "free" telephony service from Google
    • Pros:-Great Device ,-Easy set-up using obitalk.com,-No bills using GV,-911 service $15/year using Anevo,-Good call quality- You can have 2 different
    • Have got other models, them are OK and OBi in general OK, while it provides free (almost) phone service
    • I paid a major land-line company approx $120 a month to have 2 separate land-line phone numbers for business and fax, as well as home internet service.
    • I truly hope Google Voice stays free, and as long as they do, I will continue to use this for free phone service.
    • I signed up for VoIP service from Callcentric.com (they offer free services if anyone wants to do some testing).
    • I have very reliable high-capacity internet service so its very unlikely that connectivity is the root cause; though I suspect the Obihai device or configuration I am running is simply very, very vulnerable to short glitches in that service perhaps.
    • Ooma worked ok, but the device was expensive and service was lacking.
    • Free phone service, cheap optional 911 service.
    • This is a great way to save money in the long run by buying this device up front and then working with one of the Obitalk partners to obtain excellent service at a fraction of the cost of most VOIP providers
    • By integrating the OBi202 and PhonePower, a great service becomes even better (and much cheaper). For those who are not aware, Google Voice experienced periodic outages and erratic quality that should cause discerning users to rate GV as an unacceptable service in a contemporary communication environment in which we all have high expectations for making and receiving phone calls without interruptions
    • I dumped my home phone service long time ago and been using magicjack for a while...
    • Service is good and I don't use it as a primary
    • Sorry Obi, your services just aren't worth the effort and certainly not your extortion money.
    • I also paid approx $85/month for unlimited cell/data service for my personal number.
    • Initially configuring the Obi202 through ObiTalk with PhonePower service worked well
    • Works great for free home service!
    • After a miserable experience with magic jack customer service I promised myself I would never use that company again
    • As long as Google Voice remains free I'll have free phone service for life
    • But the thing is: it does not give you neither hassle free updates, nor reliable service
    • I also got the added benefit of completely free home telephone service which provides very clear voice service.
    • I have run about 10 faxes ranging from using the HP free fax number, to local faxes in my area, to free online fax services and everything has worked flawlessly sending and receiving
    • You will enjoy the Google service, good call blocking.
    • Com which is the worst service ever.
    • There is no "customer service" email or phone number for Google Voice
    • Services and Service Providers - Many to Choose FromHere is an alphabetical list of some of the more popular Internet phone service providers that can be used with your OBi device
    • I read about this device and it is a cureall; great phone service, long distance (daily calls to Hawaii) great voice reception.
    • Free phone service is great
    • I used a VOIP phone for the past 4 years through a provider that was pretty good, but rates were going up, service was intermittent and I was ready to look elsewhere
    • The hardware works well when paired with the right service
    • I have signed up with google voice and I have free phone service at the cost of a little box.
    • A small investment for FREE phone service is an understatement and, not to mention, the sound quality is perfect!
    • E911 service works with it too.
    • So, I subscribed to a cheap VOIP service, just for this
    • If you get the right service, this is a great little device.
    • If you still want free INCOMING service you can sign up for a free upstate new york number with Callcentric or a washington state number with IPkall (note even though it is upstate new york or washington state you can just have your GV number forward to it)
    • T-mobile's service is great (I have a family cell phone plan with them)
    • Mine, like others, stopped working around November 2017 after several years of decent service
    • As a free service, Google was not troubled by the poor performance and there was truly nobody to report such problems to when they occurred
    • RipoffThe device is alright, but without a reasonable phone service what good is it
    • It's as good as the internet service you purchase in the first place.
    • Very simple, very straight forward, and absolutely free phone service.
    • Also, Obihai's customer service support line is a voicemail machine that asks to leave a message and will return your call whenever you're not next to your device
    • The Obihai also has great customer service with quick response times through email
    • You will not be disappointed purchasing this, and continuing to get free and very reliable phone service thanks to Google and OBI.
    • Love our Obi202, now I have Voip service for no cost ( other than the unit itself )
    • It is a free service (no monthly bill).
    • really I’m happy with GV 'cause obvious reasons, no payments, free service, wow great, I‘m not sure why somebody should pay to cable company for a telephone
    • I purchased the Obi202 a couple of weeks ago, and I think it's a great product and service.
    • I have had 2 phone lines in the house for many years now, and it appears that I'll soon be able to shut them both down for an inexpensive VoIP service
    • Ready to roll with free phone service!- I will post an update to the review if things turn south.
    • AND THE SERVICE IS Free
    • No weird IP garbled sounding voices like with other services-Easy to use and setupI love this model because it has two ports so that I can hook up two Google numbers and have a 2nd line or a fax.
    • Excellent device and service.
    • Needing any other service this works fantastic for my main purpose of a home phone/cell phone mainly
    • I use it in conjunction with Google voice to have what is essentially a free home phone service.
    • My phone bill went from $25 a month to $1.50 a month, and I have better service.
    • After switching to a faster internet service (bye-bye DSL), I decided it was also time to stop paying Verizon $20 + nearly $15 in "taxes and fees" per month for my landline
    • That is a big task if you don't want to use one of the "favored" service providers $$$$.
    • But the thing is: it does not give you neither hassle free updates, nor reliable service
    • Works great, free home phone service, great, despite it has less functions than regular paid phone service like voicemail or other stuff, still good to have phone at home for free.
    • I recommend this for anyone looking for cheap VOIP home service, and you cannot beat the price of the Google Voice (free).
    • I was able to find free VOIP services to use with it
    • Works with google voice for free service!
    • Of course, it could be google that turned off their free voice service, but from my troubleshooting on the obihai account page, that does not seem to be the case and Obihai shamelessly turned off the devices or the service from these devices
    • Works great with free google phone service.
    • Works great, very reliable, and I now have free home phone service.
    • Can't wait to try out the free ring.to service (even w/ the $12/year required E911 service from
    • By integrating the OBi202 and PhonePower, a great service becomes even better (and much cheaper). For those who are not aware, Google Voice experienced periodic outages and erratic quality that should cause discerning users to rate GV as an unacceptable service in a contemporary communication environment in which we all have high expectations for making and receiving phone calls without interruptions
    • If you are looking for an alternative to your local telecom land line service (or your expensive VOIP service), the Obihai is the way to go!
    • Free phone service, cheap optional 911 service.
    • Now I can finally cut the cord (literally) from my phone service...good quality service, free long distance, no extra charges...
    • And, for the cost of 2 years of the lousy service I had before, I never will again
    • Took about 15 minutes from opening the box to having free home phone service
    • No real issues to speak of, again only problem has been when Google makes changes to their free service
    • like it seems they did these ones, just because they would want me to buy some other crap (bad products, bad services) from them
    • I dropped expensive home telephone service, plugged this, set it up using Google Voice number and now have home phone service for free
    • Using a Google Voice account which is currently free, with a few steps, google to find out, I'm' not going to go over it here and you can have free phone service
    • This is very important when comparing Skype or Vonage-type products that lock you into their proprietary service
    • This is either very poor customer service or outright freud.
    • I live in a rural area with poor cellphone service
    • (Took about a week to do it all)).Anyway, this device really does work, and does provide "Free" phone service (remember, you still need to have Internet service, after all, for any of this to work).
    • But Phone Power sells their service at a good price and it works fine.
    • Free phone service is always a good thing!
    • Google Voice's free phone service seemed like the answer, since it supports texting, phone calls, and voice mail, but I didn't want to make phone calls through my computer
    • Could not be better, lots of features and flexability with PhonePower, E911 service, porting of existing numbers, and more
    • I used this to hook up FREE internet phone service using a Google Voice.
    • Both places had HORRIBLE customer service....
    • They paired it with Google Voice, and they've had trouble free Home Phone service since
    • Otherwise, I have to tearfully stay with big phone companies and theyshoved their unwanted extra service down my throat.
    • I read an article about how to get free land line phone service after buying this little box
    • If using this adapter only with Google Voice:As a heads up, this product is not intended to work with 911 calls in the basic(free) setup with Google Voice, although Obihai has an inexpensive subscription-based service that provides this functionality with the Obi adapter
    • I found the best service provider to be the callcentric free phone number.
    • CERTAINLY not, After more than 14 day trial of PHONE POWER, service is worst than NETTALK.
    • One downside of having this instead of having a landline is that if there is an electrical outage, you will definitely lose this phone service, because it is dependent on modem and router
    • Swtiching the landline number to this was a bit of a pain (mostly due to poor CenturyLink customer service <think Comcast quality>), but the instructions provided by OBi were spot on and did the job.
    • Service was incredible with another unit in my hands in less than 24 hours
    • I ordered this as a replacement for my Obi 110 which is still going strong after five years of faithful service
    • Outgoing calls are also done through google voice (or whichever account you select as the primary) meaning you now have completely free phone service
    • When coupled with Google Voice the result is free VOIP phone service.
    • The price was not "too" much being in the $75.00 range and the online guide was easy to follow to have the system up and working with my Google Voice account, (it's a free service for US/Canadian calls by the way). The one thing that would have made this super-super-fantastic and had me drooling like a kid in a video game store, would have been the inclusion of the wifi connector with the unit for the purchase price
    • The OBI 202 is still the best deal in town for great phone service, easily controlled by YOU.
    • This thing is for people who don't need reliable phone service.
    • One downside is that emergency 911 service is not available through Google
    • Vonage had good service, but $25/month?
    • This device can use Google Voice, which is a free service
    • I do not need this service or device to work that badly
    • I hooked this box up to my router/modem combo and now have free phone service (I added 911 service for about $15 PER YEAR)
    • But since it is free service,it is ok.
    • 911 service is not available unless you purchase it for $20 a year.
    • Free phone service
    • Google voice is the best phone service around...has all the features of phone service with zero cost.
    • Works great with Google Voice (free) and PhonePower service (which offers a great discount to OBI owners who want 911 service and other features like Nomorobo to block robo calls).
    • If you are moving from another VOIP device to OBI, IT WILL BREAK YOUR SERVICE
    • You must have reliable internet service for this to work.
    • I did my research and found the OBi202 which connects to Google Voice, thus providing free home telephone service.
    • I had a brother using Ooma, and a friend using an Obi 100, which was free service, no fees after setup as long as you didn't want 911 service, and the 911 service was CHEAP
    • I now cancel PHONE POWER for good, worst service there is, customer service is jul.
    • The service is excellent, beats the cost and quality of vonage, for a known example of similar equipment(or not so similar in ways the everyday user might care about).
    • Thank you so much for making a product that makes it so easy for us to have free phone service.
    • Well, if most of the people I spoke with, during my tests, have been using good old copper land line phone service, then, maybe, the results would be fine and I would hear the people on the other end clearly and all would be great
    • Unfortunately, Google Voice does not offer that, but for $15/yr, you can setup a second service provider to provide the 911 service (still well worth it for "free" quality phone service.
    • Horrible service, exorbitant pricing (over $76/month for two lines?), lack of features, charging for individual features, and the list goes on
    • Oh, and I also love paying about 1/10 as much for good VOIP phone service as I used to pay for PSTN service.
    • Called in for a question and got prompt and good customer service.
    • so I can get free/cheap phone service
    • I have good Internet service from a local cable provider and figured VOIP might be the way out of the dog
    • Works very well, and with Google Voice, I can make free outgoing calls to US and Canada, and cheap long distance calls (eg, 1 cent per minute to China).I signed up for Anveo for unlimited incoming calls, plus E911 service for $2.80/month.
    • I *lost* my GV phone service.
    • I would not suggest buying or using this unless have a backup phone service available to use if the product is defective.
    • Then Came to the google shut down scare (people wanted too much from google for a free phone service when they decide to work on their servers one night and the service was down)
    • For now, I'm just using the various free online services for sending short 1 or 2 page faxes
    • Free phone service keeps my business costs low
    • It turns out Free Service works the best for FAX
    • so I can get free/cheap phone service
    • It's also another good thing (since this version has 2 line capability), for being able to set up a number on GV in other areas of the country where your relatives live, but where they don't have unlimited, free long distance services
    • Much better fax connection with this than the original obi100 I owned, although that gave stellar telephone service.
    • Now I have absolutely free phone service
    • I now cancel PHONE POWER for good, worst service there is, customer service is jul.
    • Google Voice (for the moment) offers self-manageable free IP phone account service
    • Excellent sound quality - just a little service problems with Google Voice - but not the fault of the unit.
    • Otherwise, I get a "service is unavailable" or no dial tone.2
    • I had a brother using Ooma, and a friend using an Obi 100, which was free service, no fees after setup as long as you didn't want 911 service, and the 911 service was CHEAP
    • I had been searching for weeks for a good low-cost alternative to my Frontier FiOS phone service so that I could dump their services and keep my home number
    • I purchased this and discovered that there are no longer any "free" VOIP services available.
    • I have had my Obi202 for more than a year; I use it with PhonePower ($60/yr) and the service is crystal clear and reliable.
    • Set up was simple, the calls are clear, service is consistent (no dropped calls) and best of all
    • No long distance or local service charges and my monthly Internet and phone bills cut in half with more features and faster service.
    • I love the fact I can use my fax machine with the Obi 202 and one of the best things is the service is free
    • Manual updates are simple to install by logging into the web site, so I continue to have free phone service
    • Enjoy free domestic phone service instead of paying your ISP 20 to 30 a month.
    • Everything went smoothly and quickly, and I was able to add free VOlp phone--as well as 911 emergency service for $12/year--and had all handsets running perfectly last night
    • What is not to love about free telephone service
    • so now we are getting free phone and fax service when before we were paying $29.99 per phone line.
    • the quality isn’t bad (using a couple of the well known VOIP services with this unit) but it isn’t the best I’ve experienced
    • Here is an alphabetical list of some of the more popular Internet phone service providers that can be used with your OBi device:AnveoBroadvoiceCallcentricCallWithUsLocalphoneOneSuiteVitelityVoIP.msVOIPoThese service providers also provide phone numbers from almost every North American area code - even international phone numbers.

    • Exactly how and the service you receive, is available in their literature and on the Internet.
    • I have google Voice home phone now and we bought the e-911 service that is recommended.
    • so all troubleshooting must by waiting for the appropriate e-mails.
    • After a few hours on with Phone Power support, and marginal e-mail support from ObiHai, I have concluded there is not a solution, and have canceled my nascent Phone Power account
