(OLD MODEL) Seagate Central 4TB Personal Cloud Storage NAS STCG4000100

    • Great way to scam people in the name of a storage device and then asking for more money when it goes bad
    • For now I'm done fiddling around with this thing, as I've already wasted way too much time
    • this is the best way to go
    • Windows Explorer is probably the best way to load content
    • If you want a cheap NAS and only want to store and access your files, this is a good way to go.
    • I tried this out and didn't like the way the Seagate Dashboard software handled backups, so I do not use it, but it may work for others
    • Wow, what a surprise, yeah?So in short I don't like the way my files display on the media app, how they so unorganized and hard to find, and not ordered properly, sectioned off by the folder they were in on my desktop

    • Prepare yourself to wind your way through a wave of setup and support mazes.
    • I cannot find a reliable way to use this to set up a FTP server
    • Supports networkDisadvantages- no easy way to copy directly from USB port (which exists on the device
    • Seagate's support has truly surprised me (in a good way!).
    • Plus, there isn't an easy way to move stuff around between private and public folders.
    • Setup instructions for novices could be better, but I was able to muddle my way through it
    • Also, there is no way to allow users to view files and at the same time restrict them from writing
    • Provides easy way to have a shared drive across your home network.3
    • It's actually a pretty good way to set it up: the problem was that those details are spelled out exactly nowhere in docs with the drive, or on the Seagate website
    • Google Drive, Dropbox, Box, OneDrive, they all work this way.
    • There is no chat and most issues are way to complex to debug by email.4
    • Having all the files from all the computers in one place will revolutionize the way we do things
    • Foolishly, I assumed staying within one vendor would be the easiest, most reliable way to maintain a near-continuous backup
    • This way I could recover my data.
    • To summarize, this drive is an excellent way to add centralized storage that any computer in the house can access any time, without 3rd party software or jumping through hoops
    • The transfer times were fast by direct connecting the drive to my computer and the initial Time Machine back-up went as fast as when I set up my Western Digital 1TB drive.
    • Finally I tested with a disk drive speed test and confirmed as well as with the activity monitor that it wouldn't do over 1-
    • The quality of the picture is as beautiful as if I were playing the actual DVD
    • Works as per the ads, easy to set up and performs as expected.
    • Really disappointing as I had high hopes for this drive
    • I do not regret my decision as of yet.
    • this is basically like holding your data hostage as I'm sure if you sent it in they would be happy to sell you a drive to copy it to and charge you to copy it to
    • I'd access them and upload files remotely, as well as at home
