Maybe bad batteries.

Purchased 08/15, ringer stopped working and battery indicator mal-functioned

Horrendous battery life as other reviewers have mentioned.

I asked why they couldn't just send new batteries ans they explained that the issue might not be the batteries but rather the charging circuit in the phones, so they needed the entire units with bases returned for testing

and I want to cash in by switching this for a model that works as it should.

the hd2 handset works very well, and syncs well with the ooma device, as well as with the telo wireless adapter.

otherwise it would hit the garbage can as fast as you can say "goodby".

In about 15-30 minutes, my contacts appeared on the HD2 handset, and they do work as they should

The call quality is just as good as with the original ooma handset - some others here have complained that the new-ish handset isn't really a quality call experience, but I believe this depends on where your telo device is in your home

The back is also scratched as if someone tried to reopen it after glueing it shut.

The phone looks good, feels good (as in size to hold in your hand while talking pervs)
