Ooma Telo Free Home Phone Service. Works with Amazon Echo and Smart Devices

    • Old Western Electric phones suck up the power
    • No lights no power...dead
    • Only downside with this unit is that when you lose power (unless you have your router and Ooma on a UPS), you will lose the ability to make and receive phone calls.
    • The only downsides are you need power and the internet, so if you lose power, no Ooma service
    • If you lose power or internet service you can send all calls to a cell or old school landline
    • Don't even notice it's any different than the land line we had before (except when we lose power).
    • Our home network consists of a wired router (no wireless), a separate 24 port managed switch with PoE, and 3separate wireless access points, several intelligent power distribution units (basically intelligent power strips)
    • The first being that this device requires stable internet and power
    • Connected correctly to my wireless modem via Ethernet, line from Ooma device to phone secure as well as power to Ooma.
    • The downfalls would be if you lost power or internet service, but I feel that that's not too likely to happen and this gives me a little piece of mind.
    • Adding too many of the vintage "real bell" ringing phones dwindles the power available to properly function..having 8,9, or so would cause all the phones to not ring.
    • No power issues at my house.
    • I like the low cost at just over 4.00 for taxes but seems if it loses power it will not dial outside the area code.
    • I have lost power due to a storm since installing the Ooma, and that does pose a problem in that it is a VOIP phone, so without power, the system does not work.
    • First the power adapter failed
    • Do recommend a battery/UPS backup in case you lose power.
    • If you connect the device to your house phone wiring, the device can manage multiple phones, but it lacks the power to ring old-fashoined phones that use an electomagnetically-driven bell.
    • WIth a Telo, lose power or Internet and you have a brick rather than a communications device
    • The only problem with this type of communication is if the power goes out and your internet does not work, this will not work.
