Ooma Telo Free Home Phone Service (Discontinued by Manufacturer)

    • Awesome phone service, you only pay the taxes
    • Point of the story is that their service is very good and I have enjoyed very inexpensive phone service with little work required on my part
    • $40 to transfer existing number is a little steep and it took longer than expected but the phone works.
    • Your phone will still work as it did before.
    • For four years we enjoyed free phone service from Google Voice using an Obihai device
    • The phone works, though not wirelessly for me and just not worth the effort.
    • and I had the phone up and working in 15 minutes, however when I went to cancel my Ooma account the CSR tried for over 30 minutes to convince me of different ways to go with my other services to make this worthwhile despite the fact I explained I had researched every available option.
    • Very clear phone calls and no delay.
    • and I could have understood that their proprietary phone was probably what I should use.
    • ALL the old existing phones in my home are now working through Ooma.
    • My modern Uniden phone says "Check Tel Line" when plugged into ooma
    • now a year later and works perfect, our new home phone.....cheep. can not tell any difference of other phone system, all always keep it, plus you get cool phone numbers
    • I actually did have to call 911 and lucky for me the phone was working at the time
    • I tested it out using one of their free phone numbers for a month before spending an additional $35 to port my home phone number to Ooma
    • I had used the phone service that promised Magic, but did not deliver.
    • If you are on the fence about losing your home phone, just get an Ooma
    • this was the best phone decision we ever made.
    • Whenever I move, I simply plug it in to my router, regardless of having DSL or cable for internet, and within a couple of mins, my phone is working
    • I have hesitated for years to go on a VOIP-type, less expensive phone system, as my regular phone company kept raising monthly costs repeatedly, and, to my mind, excessively
    • I love it and if you like free phone calls to any place in the US you will too
    • was so sick of my overpriced phone service.
    • It Includes a free trial of Ooma premier for 30-90 days I forgot! which includes Making 2 calls at once,Forwarding your voice-mail,Staying connected on the go,Blocking telemarketers,Choosing a virtual number,Identifying callers,Screening your calls,911 notifications,Using Ooma on your smart phone,Turning off the ringer plus your basic features Making and receiving calls,Call waiting,Blocking caller ID,911 calling,International and other calling services,Voice-mail,Playing massages at home,Checking voice-mail remotely,Changing voice-mail settings
    • Almost free phone service is nice, but the Ooma device is lacking in a few ways:1
    • Yes you lose service when you lose internet, but we lost phone service quite often with AT&T, and paid like $50.00 +, and we live in Silicon Valley, where you would think we could get great phone service
    • I hung up the home phone and listened to hold music on my cell phone for another minute or so
    • It makes talking on the phone almost stressful
    • Free phone is reel nice
    • Works great as a home phone in my area where there is poor cell service.
    • You can also have 2 different phone lines - useful if you move a lot or if you need a fax number (you may need Ooma-specific 2-line phones to do this.
    • Good cheap phone service
    • And you can use it with any phone, I have 3 wireless phones and it works great
    • Charter advertises it for $29.99, but on a triple play adding in Internet and Cable TV, the cost of reliable phone service is practically free and a much better alternative to Ooma
    • I enjoy having voice mails sent to my email, as well as having a free 2nd phone line, and call blocking
    • Easy install, easy porting my old phone number to Ooma, and excellent customer support
    • I requested the old Verizon FIOS phone number port to be the secondary number.
    • i regret my traditional phone
    • If you have a solid internet connection, want to maintain a "landline" with your old phone number (or a new number) and are tired of expensive monthly phone bills, buy one of these.
    • The Premier trial period was nifty, but not enough to fully sell me, the bare bones service is more than enough phone for me.
    • Unlike before, I no longer have to worry about missing important phone calls
    • After spending almost $300 on Ooma, an Ooma handset, premium service and phone number porting, etc, I called Ooma support for some help in a delay problem - not severe, but enough of a delay between the people talking to be annoying
    • very nice and cheap phone service
    • Local phone # is important as we have relatives with simple call around land line plans
    • Ps: Of course I have verified using another phone that this number actually works -- it just doesn't work with Ooma
    • Best "land line" phone I could wish for
    • Superior voice quality phone calls via the internet.
    • In contrast my land line and cell phone both have a 20-30 ms delay, and the other VoiP solution I tested, MagicJack had about a 100 ms delay
    • So if you want to be as cheap as possible then the phone would only be $4/monthIt's worth it to get one and ditch Comcast or AT&T or any of the others, because even Straight Talk from Walmart home phone has a $15 monthly fee in it.
    • For $100 OOMA box and a $10 a month phone charge for taxes, you get as good a phone service as your internet connection.
    • First few weeks I've experienced some technical issues but after that few weeks it run as good as any other phone service.
    • Now we had a tiny debit of $3.50 showing up on our credit card and this is a literally a Federal tax on NOTHING, because this phone is free once you buy the device.
    • This thing has been absolutely amazing!OOMA is one of the best IP phone solutions I have ever used
    • Is a great VoIp phone service provider though not the best, have had for 3 years as my home phone and saved $50 per month over land line
    • We have a phone with multiple handsets and it works on all of them, but when we check recent calls, we have to dial them rather than press the button that should dial them, it doesn't do it automatically, we get an error that says the number is disconnected.
    • After a polite-but-frustrating phone call and two emails I thought it was over
    • On our 2mb/s internet the phone worked better than our MagicJack that I have been using for the last year.
    • The phone is easy to use and the sound is so
    • So, as I said earlier, once I get my registration working so I can set up my replacement Telo, and once I get my phone number transferred so I can actually use Ooma for my
    • I use it for my Pansonic base station and all my phones work great.
    • Crystal clear phone calls.
    • It's always a good idea to have a home phone as well as cell phone!!
    • If you are a bridged--not ready to cut the TELCOM cord them coma is the best value--easy to set up and select a number and backed by great chat and phone service....
    • We still like our Ooma, but it is not as reliable as the old regular phone service.
    • Ooma phone is a great phone
    • I was leery of a free phone service, yet this just works
    • The installation is easy, the voice clarity is as good as the phone company
    • You invest in the initial hardware and start enjoying almost free phone services for the rest of your life
    • Bought a year of Ooma premiere to get old phone number ported over for free
    • Also there is a delay when entering numbers into automated phone systems (like credit cards numbers).
    • It is still good to have a back-up line or cell phone available for emergency use during a power outage
    • All in all, good phone service for a significant saving--about $26.00 per month cheaper than a landline, and more standard features to boot.
    • There is a slight call connection delay vis-a-vis a hard-wired phone, I had to learn to count to two before saying Hello
    • Customer service contrary to what other reviewers have said has been excellent phone response has been fast and courteous
    • We can not afford to have poor phone service and with this service, there has been not a single instance when we had an issue due to Ooma.
    • Hard to beat free phone service (except for taxes).
    • I recommend this product for having a reliable home phone.
    • Cut the expensive phone bills using internet and a regular phone.
    • 4 dollars a month phone service that hasn't failed me yet after a whole year
    • but I guess I also enjoy not having to power cycle an adapter each day to make sure the phones are working
    • I hung up the phone and moved the Ooma back into
    • EVERYONE you give your CELL number to, who then saves it to their "smart-phone" and has games and apps loaded on that phone potentially compromises YOUR number!!!!!
    • The voice quality is as good as any cell phone, although not quite as good as a landline.
    • We went with Verizon's Home Phone Connect and made it through the "trial" period with what we thought was a great phone.......needless to say, it quickly went south.
    • The sound is very clear; even with my cheap phone.
    • Vonage was used as a small business phone as well as our residential phone with a Fax line and a couple of Virtual numbers
    • The call quality is amazing for a free phone system like this.
    • I think that if you want an excellent phone service for a great price, you should get OOMA.
    • Best VOIP phone service for your home
    • People have commented on the clarity of the calls and the other plus point is that you do not need to go through your computer like Magic Jack for example it works just like a regular phone system all in all I highly recommend this as the best internet phone out there friends that have Vonage are now moving to OOMA following my experience.
    • Wow, free home phone (if you have reliable internet).
    • Ooma is the best phone service I have ever used, in my life time, and I had AT&T land line for over 60 years
    • Ooma gives you a choice, free basic phone and if you want to block your calls then it is only $9.99 a month plus taxes.
    • This is part of their premium package, but that's $10 a month, which defeats the purpose of a free phone!
    • The phone doesn't work when your internet is down.
    • Unlike before, I no longer have to worry about missing important phone calls
    • Since we found ourselves using cell phones more often for many calls that were previously made by landline, we decided to upgrade our cells to smart phones, and partially pay for that with the decreased cost of using Ooma to replace our landline
    • Great phone system..!
    • This is the way to knock your Home Phone down to about $4.00 per month.
    • The BAD news was that our old phone number stopped taking inbound calls, and started telling callers that the phone was disconnected.
    • so we were concerned about decoupling the phone from the service and loosing the DSL
    • The only other annoyance is the consistent ads pushing OOma's premier phone service
    • Good cheap phone service
    • I can recommend this phone easily.
    • If the phone ever stops working, 9 times out of
    • I had so much trouble setting up a new landline with my existing phone number ported over,--I tried with 2 different local phone companies --who then wanted to charge me a lot for not-so-great service
    • So as you can see, you are not really getting the free phone service, since you need to buy the Telo (about 150 USD), need to pay internet (which goes between 15 and 50 USD per month, depending from your location and service type), and taxes (about 6 USD per month)
    • The device costs about $120 to buy and the phone number port is $
    • Have been using Ooma with great crystal clear phone service.
    • Don't waste your money on MJ - spend the extra dollars for a great phone product
    • Makes me mad that I've been paying over $30.00 a month for years for a stupid home phone and his give me clear calls (and faxes!
    • If your internet is working, your phone is working (unlike my last internet phone)
    • I have had this device for a month now and only had one incident where the phone was choppy, which could have been the phone itself, other than that one time it sounds and works great
    • Also, I choose a phone number I liked, but it wasn't available for direct local dialing.
    • Very clear phone calls and no delay.
    • We have four phones in our home network, and all work perfectly.
    • I highly recommend this phone.
    • If you absolutely need all the unnecessary phone junk then you can pay Ooma about $10/mo for the privilege
    • If you buy the Premier service which includes call blocking and "community blacklist", you can block most of these annoying phone calls.
    • Good basic home phone.
    • If you lose your Internet due to power outage or router failure, you won't have a phone.
    • When you are getting free phone service it is worth it to pay a little extra for a device that is really designed for clarity in mind and customer service.
    • I highly recommend this product if you're looking to cut back on spending, but still want a decent phone line
    • Nice having free phone service for a change !!!
    • That's when I switched the phone (keeping the internet), and that's when they were ready to give me free phone service for a year--and I politely declined because I prefer being free of sales gimmicks
    • I have not had any problems with the unit since I installed it about 1 month ago and my existing wireless phones have worked with the Telo without a problem
    • If you have reliable Wi-Fi access when away from home, download the OOMA app to your smart -phone, and you can accessyour OOMA system on your mobile, and make calls on free wi-fi, and save your cell time.
    • I'd highly recommend this to everyone, especially with unlimited phone calls!
    • No reason to pay exhorbitant phone fees
    • Fast and easy setup, however Ooma does not show the available phone numbers before you buy
    • Phone has been 100% reliable so far
    • I recommend this service to anyone who has broadband and ready to get rid of ridiculous phone bills
    • Of course, if the cell phone network goes down, we still will have no emergency phone service
    • However, with Ooma, you buy the modem, either their phone or your compatible phones.
    • The phone works, though.
    • Fabulous phone system, inexpensive and excellent sound quality!
    • For less than $4.00 a month (taxes), I have clear VOIP phone service with unlimited minutes within the US.
    • Ooma is really good phone service.
    • With what we saved on land line bills we invested in two new smart phones and it cost less than the land lines
    • Most DECT 6.0 phones are better.
    • This is the best phone deal around!
    • You can then pick up a nice Panasonic wireless phone set to take care of your entire home.
    • It's a good phone without standard caller ID and it costs about $4 per month
    • In my case, the phone number porting only took 1 week, which was a nice surprise.
    • Free phone calls are always a good thing
    • I've tried several "free" phone
    • I got the Ooma Telo free home phone to use while I'm home also my Mom likes to keep this phone in her room
    • Kissed my old overpriced phone service goodbye!!!
    • After being raked over the coals by AT&T for yeeeeeeeears, my new consistent $3.80 a month phone bill is awesome!Call quality is excellent, features are outstanding and there is not much more to say
    • I really love this phone.
    • Free phone what is not to like
    • Great service...free phone calls....good sound quality
    • We had a few bumps while trying to port over our old phone number, but once those were cleared it was smooth sailing and now we enjoy good phone service with a $4 and change monthly phone bill.
    • Disconnected the landline in favor of cell phones, but went with this with the idea of having an inexpensive, backup home phone
    • You also have the option of having a second phone number/line with a different area code for example if you have a second home and want a "local" number in that area
    • Sound quality blows away ANY cell phone and is equivalent - perhaps even a touch better - than a landline phone
    • As long as your device works, for a small fee and taxes, you can use a phone at your wired Internet connection
    • Ooma is the best phone company for equipment and all types of phone calling as a long distance company.
    • I was not willing to throw good money after bad, so after two days working the phone we agreed that if I cancelled my service the charges would stop
    • This is the best VOIP phone
    • The only problem is if our internet is down or the power is out, we lose our home phone too
    • Voice quality is not quite as good as the land line was, but it is still very good, and as good as the IP phone I use every day at work anyway
    • I've had ooma for 3 months and it's STILL BY FAR the best phone system EVER, PERFECT
    • So, I hung up the phone and went to the computer to register the device.
    • The Obi202 supports faxes and multi phones at same time both receiving and calling, which the Ooma does not
    • Great IP phone device.
    • Not ooma's mistake, not mine either, just so happens that the phone number I chose was already used as a public phone
    • While i wish the premier services were a little less expensive you don't need to pay for them to have almost free phone service.
    • It's a great product and what's even greater is that I'm now paying $3.47 a month for unlimited domestic phone service
    • "free phone calls" is not a real business model
    • Excellent phone service.
    • So far I have not had issues with a "dead" phone line or problems with calls so that all seems to work fine.
    • No more expensive monthly phone bill, just a few bucks in taxes.
    • GOod looking, good sounding, handy, and inexpensive for overall phone service! We enjoy all the features, just trying to get the right phones now
    • It's nice to finally be able to make and receive phone calls with beautiful clarity, and equally nice to be able to enjoy a nice phone call out on my sun soaked deck as it should be.
    • The personal and community blacklists have reduced the unwanted phone calls to almost zero
    • It's a great phone service
    • Of course, when the internet is out, the phone doesn't work either.
    • The calls sound as good as my previous digital phone service but listening to the voicemail on the Ooma itself does not sound the best
    • For me, it is a very expensive paper weight with cool lights that also doubles as a marginal 2nd phone line
    • The phone is fine, but with all of the 'add on' features, you end up paying around $15 a month, plus the cost of the Ooma unit and the cost to change the number.
    • A free service as ituses your existing cable service, and all national calls are as free as e-mail
