My old AGM charger showed a "Bad Cell" error

I tried to recondition my son's 14 year old Optima Red Top battery and have been unable to get it reconditioned because the battery obviously has a bad cell.

My diehard starter/charger would'nt charge it, kept coming up bad cells, the voltage showed 5.3 volts today when I hooked it up and instantly the charger went into conditioning mode and the voltage started going up, it was @ 7.5 volts within 20min

In researching batteries on the web, I learned most conventional chargers will not recognize a battery that has dropped below 10.5 volts, and one charger I had gave an error code of a dead cell
