When I place the device over the top of the wine bottle it seems difficult to locate the center and when turned on to start it is slow and when the screw reaches its depth it seems as if the battery is almost dead

The batteries are not user replaceable, however a tech minded, electro-wizard could do so

If you have a choice between this one and one with replaceable batteries, choose this one.

Both failed within several months with the same problem, batteries do not hold a charge.

Rechargeable batteries go out and too many off center corks burn out the motors

The batteries in that one finally died.

It is shame that such a great product design is now trashed because of poor functioning batteries

I last ordered this 6 months ago and now the battery is dead

For the most part, this Oster Wine Opener work very good for a couple of years - then, the battery gives out.
