With the updated design, having the hard shell on the outside makes a significant difference that provides a less bulky design and it's much easier to remove from my pockets

In one year with no hard drops, two of the hard shells have broken in the same area

The overall fit is pretty precise, except for some reason upper right corner of the hard-shell seems to be slightly warped, causing a small non-uniform gap.

This case is not only dual protection with the rubber case and the hard shell it is slim yet still protects the phone like only an otterbox can.

Then, a solid plastic shell goes over that.

Ordering a 3rd replacement because the shell keeps breaking in two spots.

I'm not sure exactly what the flaw is but the outer shell seems to break in the same spot right by the USB charging port

Outer Shell cracked after 2 months of use

I like the hard shell outside the rubber

I really like this case but after having it for a week the white outer shell cracked down by where the charger goes in

The soft plastic case with hard shell work well; don't have any issues with those.

This Otterbox is dual layered with a rubbery layer inside next to the phone with a hard plastic shell

the rubber protective shell will adjust so that it will fit flush with the hard plastic outside shell

The thinnest parts of the hard plastic shell (by the charging port and headphone jack) are prone to crack

However, here we are two months later and the shell is cracked again (even worse)

While undoubtedly effectively protective, the case fits poorly around the headphones jack, the outer hard shell failing to seat on the soft silicon and actually leaving an ugly gap

The hard outer shell made it very hard for folks on the other end of a call to hear me, I found that it affected the speaker output when playing video/music, and, because the hard shell is smooth plastic it resulted in more slips and falls for the phone.

The inner case fits around the phone well, the outer hard shell does not have as good of a fit on my phone however

The commuter looks nice, but when I got mine, the hard shell would not stay attached

When installing the cover, if you open the headphone jack cover and give it a little pull while the hard plastic shell is in place

While I will continue to use Otter box cases, I can no longer give them 5 stars since the break on the SIDE was almost certainly preventable by some correction to the case's engineering.(My first 2 otter box cases were my old Samaung galaxy s4, and it broke when the bottom wraparound piece of the case's hard shell broke off completely for some unknown reason.)Definitely recommend, and (obviously) I would buy it again (and have done so).

Hard shell cracked 3 months regular use.

If it weren't for fragile shell, I really like the size and fit of the case, but after hearing rave reviews about Otterbox durability I had high expectations...this case didn't live up to the hype

This thing is awesome, its easy to quickly get my phone in and out of the case, which is important given that I change my battery a few times per day, and it has both soft squishy rubber along with a hard shell, the best of both worldsI've dropped my phone from 5ft onto hard concrete a few times.
