When I was asked to write a review about this *amazing* coffee machine, I hesitated a bit because I wanted to make sure I highlighted the good and the bad

But the reality is, for the way that I drink coffee, I'm not sure you need to get a better machine then your run of the mill, well-reviewed drip coffee maker like say, the Cuisinart DCC-3200AMZ

I think a lid redesign would make this a great machine

Still, the net result was that the coffee was consistently bitter and overextracted, and the machine was messy and not convenient to use

It is an investment but it brews a consistently great cup of coffee and is cheaper than other machines capable of the same level of quality.

The coffee is somehow stronger using this machine, so we just use a bit less coffee grounds and so far it's been perfect.

One of the things that was mentioned was that it was the easiest coffee machine to use

Since I have lost 4 machines to scale, I like the idea that this might extend the life of this machine to the point that it actually has a lower cost of ownership than my previous machines.

If you use a machine several times throughout the day, this may be the right machine for you, as I've heard they make decent cups o' joe.

My closest comparison that I previously had was the Bunn ThermoFresh and this one is by far a better machine

At our house the machine keeps the coffee hot for about two hours every morning before the pot is gone.

Setting that darned Oxo clock was far more confusing than setting the Bonavita's preinfusion cycle!Bottom line: Both are great machines, but if I were doing it over, I'd go for another Bonavita.

I usually tip the whole machine on the side and it drains out from the reservoir as well as the drip area

Yes, it's expensive compared to most coffee machines but if you value great tasting coffee in a great looking machine then give this one a look.

That's one minor change that Oxo could make to improve the machine, in my mind; but maybe this is a pretty minor quibble

If the machine does not perform satisfactorily after just one or two months of service, then no matter how great the machine is, we have to rethink our praise about it

There is an issue with the electrical engineering on the unit, though, as others have reported -- if I grind coffee with a grinder plugged into the same outlet as the machine, it will reset the clock

I have been using a 12-cup Cuisinart coffee maker for years, but I think I found my new favorite machine

Before this I used a manual drip, pour-over type and my wife used a stove-top espresso machine

I measured the crappy drip machine that this unit replaced, and it went from 185F down to 170F across the cycle

The machine is virtually silent and has a sleek look

I prefer this OXO to the Bonavita, which is a nice machine... but the filter holder slides out with the Bonavita carafe after brewing, which you must then remove and subsequently have to install the carafe cap

In a call to customer service,OXO stated that the machine was awarded the coveted Specialty Coffee Association of America certification for meeting the temperature standards

I was a little disappointed coming from a cheap drip machine (albeit one of the "good" ones apparently) and a french press and this is using fresh coffee ground to size in my Baratz Maestro before use and filtered water

Over time I have noticed that the brewing temperature seems to be less hot, even though I regularly descale the machine when it nags me

I find this machine to be better than either.

So, I love the machine despite some issues, and I must say Oxo customer service has been great.

It is really a beautiful machine (especially in my nearly all black/stainless kitchen)

The controls took a little time to get use to, but all in all an awesome machine.

The machine is quiet, well designed and I JUST LOVE it and always look forward to the next cup of coffee.

I've used the machine---well, many times already in the short time we've had it, and I've been thrilled with it.

Water doesn't stay as hot in thermos as I would like.

At the point it completes the cycle, the coffee made by this machine is certainly as good as, if not perceptibly better than that of the Bonavita or Capresso; but the coffee keeps better in the caraffe, it pours into the cup better, and it is much less susceptible to filter handling errors that result in rivers of hot coffee running across the counters, down the cabinets, and onto the floor.

My only complaint is the water/condensation that stays in where you pour the water as well as under the lid it sort of gets trapped under that rubber piece which makes me worried about mildew

Well made, easy to assemble and disassemble as well as to clean

This tastes as good as, if not better than, the clever coffee method and is much faster and easier to make

Overall I'd highly recommend this as long as you can live with those two limitations.
