The depth of field worked well with my subject in crisp focus with the background slightly blurred to isolate my subjects.

I love this lens because it takes clear focused photos even at 200mm hand held and at my age that is wonderful

I did find that focus was slow at times and hunted a little when at 150 - 200 mm.

It brings the world up nice and close, the focusing is sharp and the colors are true

Several people have mentioned (on other websites) that this lens can be prone to focusing issues (back focusing/front focusing) and I can confirm this

1.7 is the most buttery smooth aperture to use, not to mention the manual focus ring is the smoothest focus ring I’ve ever used

Unfortunately, even if you are using manual focus, I found the focus-by-wire system used on Panasonic micro four third lens to be quite frustrating, as it is quite easy to slip in and out of focus at the slightest touch, and when you are zoomed in and trying to focus, you really don't get a feel of whether you are moving to the right focus range.

When it's wide open at f1.7, it is so, so easy to lock down focus on your subject and blur out EVERYTHING else

I have yet to determine whether the soft focus is due to problems with the lens or the autofocus

It is conveniently small, focuses fast and does a pretty good job focusing in low light situations

(the manual focus on these lenses seems difficult to use), with my use of the autofocus, with my choice of settings (the camera offers many options which I have not yet fully explored), whether the image stabilization is not giving me as much extra leeway on the shutter speed as I hoped, or whether this is just a problem inherent with most inexpensive zoom lenses

The 25mm f1.7 is the fastest focusing prime lens made for the micro 4/3 system.

But if you have one of the Olympus cameras named above and have noticed that there are very few lenses that these cameras' fast focusing can take advantage of, don't worry, this lens is one that makes the most of Olympus's claimed "world's fastest focus".

+ photos I lost only 1 due to lack of good focus.

It's a pleasant surprise after using the 20mm pancake lens as it is fairly noisy when focusing (though a fabulous lens otherwise)

Given its slow f/4 maximum aperture at the wide end and slower f/5.6 racked out, the ability to use some slow shutter speeds and still get sharp images in low light is a blessing
