These headphones barely block out any background noises, hence the four stars instead of five.

The only down side is that they rest on you ear somewhat loosely so they don't block out any background noise

However, I wouldn't recommend wearing them outdoors in noisy environments as you lose your music or book to background noise unless your volume is very high
