But they broke down after about a year and a half of moderate use; the wire twisted off from one of the headphones, and shortly afterward the insulation on the wire leading to the second headphone snapped, leaving the wire itself exposed

The wire broke after a few months of use.

The price is a little bit higher, but these are exactly the same as my old earphones from WalMart, which finally broke (a wire must have frayed) after several years.

Also the wiring is very stiff, not very flexible

The headphones fit very close to my head and the center split wiring to each ear clip is much appreciated.
