In an era of expensive stereos that need powered antennas and a dead chicken hung from your chimney, this "boombox" offers excellent reception in both AM and FM bands and it comes with a handle, Onkyo cannot say that!

AM radio has great reception for being inside.

FM reception, hopeless - a much cheaper Bestbuy made boombox does a much better job with its radio

i ave not found that the reception for radio stations are the best either.my recommendation is to keep shopping-- for the price this is not a deal

You'll probably give up some tone with the Sony, but at least those boomboxes will undoubtedly play CD-Rs and get much, much better radio reception

Except for marginal reception, I am very pleased with this product and its multi-functionality

But the tuner is awful...and we live in a good reception area.

Works well, decent reception and plays burned CD's well.

The manual says to use an outside antenna if reception is a problem.

Interestingly I found that for two problematic stations, if I remove the antenna entirely I get better reception

The higher cost of the Panasonic unit is well worth it, it is compact in size, attractive, easy to use with the remote, reception is good - all around a versatile, high quality product.

Very clear base, plays cassettes well, workable radio reception, easy to use.

I tried unplugging the wireless router which was next to the radio, and I found that if the router is on and the antenna is installed there is static, but if I remove the antenna, the static is removed and the reception is better
