• Reviews around unit (3.40 of 5)

Panasonic Smart Network 4K Upscaling 3D Blu-Ray Disc & Streaming Player DMP-BDT270 (Silver), WiFi, Miracast

    • Additionally the unit itself is very flimsy
    • Top the unit has a few of the needed basic controls out in plain sight so easy and convenient also.
    • This is a really nice little unit for the price.
    • The unit is easy to install and configuring to use wireless for streaming
    • Great unit
    • I was about to spend more for a lesser machine locally when I happened to find this top rated unit on Amazon at a better than expected price
    • I highly recommend this unit
    • This unit is significantly faster and more responsive although it cannot touch the $500 Oppo for disc loading speed, but hey it was much cheaper
    • Now, beginning two weeks ago, the player will no longer connect to Netflix at all, while our older LG B390 wireless unit (it doesn't have Prime access) has no difficulty at all (same router, same 10 ft distance)
    • The unit is average on the bluray boot process its not very fast but not the slowest unit out there at this price point.
    • no wonder costco is dumping the dmp bdt270 units for 69.99.
    • I purchased this for playback only, but this unit is Wi-Fi ready, so if you choose, you can access the internet which will enable you to enjoying U-tube, Netflix, etc.
    • On the negative front, this unit is quite noisy when “seeking” at the beginning of a blu-ray movie
    • First unit was a true lemon: discs would not load
    • There is one article that tells you what the best video setting is for your network speed and for other countries if you are not in USA.Anyway, this unit plays well with blue-ray disk and You-Tube works good
    • They have promised that a supervisor or second level technician will call me back in 24-48 hours at least four times, not a single call, although I did get an email asking me to try a whole list of things all of which I had already done multiple times, mostly with their "techs" on the line so the ticket should reflect it, all of them to troubleshoot how my network didn't work, ignoring the fact every other device in the house is fine and this one can play full movies from Netflix without so much as a hiccup!!!The last time I contacted them they decided that the unit may be faulty ("ya think!?"
    • The unit has worked fine since then
    • Programmed the second unit and it worked perfect until the day I mounted my TV on the wall and unplugged everything.and now the 2nd player had the same
    • This unit worked great for a month and then started shutting itself down and not responding, The remote is not very well though out as well
    • This unit is also quieter than the previous one.
    • Anyways back to the review, the main unit looks dead and pale, Zero marks for design.the blu-ray play option is fast and trouble free
    • Lovely unit!
    • While most of the features of this unit worked VERY well, the unit has some quirks that may limit it's use
    • This unit is a good recommendation for a slim line combo unit.
    • 9/8/2015:Both units have been freezing for a while now
    • However, after only 19 months, the unit died.
    • I've had this unit for sometime now and works great with no problems
    • This player is an excellent unit, its picture quality and the sound is bright and has nothing to envy to a higher unit cost
    • The issue of it not ejecting might be misinterpreted as having a mind of its own but is likely just how slow this unit responds
    • My Sony, much more expensive/sophisticated unit, does not have this capability
    • Unfortunately, this unit, like so many, only have a NETFLIX priority button.
    • The unit plays DVDs and Blu-Ray disks quite well and have experienced no issues with this functionality
    • I would recommend this unit to anyone.
    • Unit was relatively easy to set up with a wireless Internet connection.
    • The network features are okay, but like most "smart" units, it's a little clumsy.
    • Nicely designed unit that goes with the Visio design.
    • the unit exceeded my expectations... for less than 100 dollars it has everything, blue ray, WI-fi,... before we watched tv in regular mode, but with the HDMI though the dvd player it is amazing..
    • I don't have much to add to the other reviews, and I like this unit a lot
    • If the Power button location isn't an issue for you then I can recommend this unit.
    • This Unit does not work Fully with Amazon Prime Internet Access
    • Both units work flawlessly
    • As a Blu-ray or DVD player, this unit is fine.
    • Sometimes the unit hangs up and stops
    • So far, this unit has been very easy to use and the streaming function works well my wireless network
    • It bothers me that I will probably never utilize all the features of this great little unit
    • The unit connected instantly, the firmware update worked flawlessly, and I can now stream Netflix and Amazon video
    • Quality is so poor nowadays, it's a total gamble in my opinion whether you get a good, lasting unit or one that no longer stands out from the crowd
    • Firmware was fully updated and both units were well taken care of
    • nice unit.
    • Note: this applies to the unit available in the US.Pro:VERY easy network/internet setup
    • However it is a very cranky unit that just shuts itself off periodically resulting in the need to unplug it to get it to work again.
    • Great, high quality unit.
    • I have enjoyed this unit far more than any other Blu Ray player I have owned
    • We really like this unit.
    • Not bad for a unit that I paid $105 forI'd gladly recommend the unit to others, especially in light of their excellent tech support, the ease of use and the features on the box.
    • Once I established the network connection and started using it, I really like this unit and I'm glad I'm able to use a unit of this size instead of rearranging and entire shelving unit to accommodate a different one that's a few inches wider.
    • Speaking of network connections, keep in mind that this unit only works on the 2.4 Ghz band and does not work on the 5 Ghz band.
    • It's a great unit - especially considering the price
    • The metal look could have appeal, but the unit itself actually feels quite light, and rather cheap
    • nice unit
    • This 2012 model seems especially hi-tech in the array of abilities for such a reasonable price!I love it!I was up and watching movies on Hulu, Amazon prime and Netflix the very evening I got this little gem!I highly not only recommend this unit, but also that you buy it from amazon, because technology is not perfect, at least if you got a dud, amazon will see that you're not left with a dud!!!Gooo Panasonic Gooooo amazonThank youDarlingWashington StateLoyal Amazon Customer
    • Like most of our electronic purchases, we purchased this unit through Amazon.com.
    • I've only had this unit for 24 hours and it has already lost the wireless connection three separate times.
    • Don't buy this or any other Panasonic item unless you want a useless unit.
    • This Panasonic unit works great
    • Otherwise good unit...
    • I found this unit to have so many capabilities, functions, options, etc. that it was the one I wanted
    • Just like previous editions, this unit only has one output, a HDMI connector.
    • The sleek design is nice and it is a smooth operating unit, start up of discs are quick, one thing lacking is that it does not play avi files which was a big disappointment.
    • Returned it and purchased the same model on the assumption that it was a defective unit
    • The unit would be great, except that the software it runs is shockingly bad
    • This unit replaces a Blu-ray player I have hade for 5 years and it destroys it in every way
    • I went out an bought the cord, called them back, only to find that the unit was defective.
    • The two units, both being Panasonic work perfectly together.
    • Like nearly all unhacked players this unit will not let you skip commercials or FBI warnings if the disc locks the track/fast forward button.
    • However, this unit really had a problem with skipping and hitching.
    • I liked it so much, I ordered a second unit for another TV
    • So for no other reason than disc handling speed (picture quality equal to Sony) this unit is worth the money
    • I recently got this unit and wanted to connect it to my home network, but it just wouldn't work with my Wi-Fi
    • Nice little unit, really gives a great picture when combined with the UHD TV and Blu Ray
    • it worked!I highly recommend this unit.
    • My unit ran pretty well with Netflix for about a month, then the WiFi totally died (no connectivity at all with Netflix or any other internet functions).
    • This unit is small & compact.
    • Good unit for the money
    • I think the unit may be defective.
    • But the worst part is that the unit is super-sluggish when responding to the remote control
    • I recommend this unit.
    • What I can attest to is that this unit has worked perfectly for all of my aforementioned uses.
    • The unit works very good....but the grey scale is not accurate.
    • So far this has been a nice unit
    • I would highly recommend his unit if you are in the market for a Blue Ray Player with these specs.
    • THE UNIT IS A GREAT
    • guaranteed! The Panasonic unit is perfect! This player is simple to hook up/set up, it worked immediately too!Picture is awesome, remote works great and the personal programming was a breeze
    • Unit randomly freezes while maneuvering through the menus.
    • So, it would have been nice if the unit had an audible noise to let you know it received the command.
    • It works well if the unit sells well, and if they don't change models too quickly.
    • Unit is not as easy to use as my old Panasonic, I have yet to make contact with my server.
    • Now so many people, both consumers and professional reviewers, have liked the Panasonic that I probably just got a bad unit
    • It is truly a amazing little unit stuffed packed full with so much useful technology
    • I recently purchased a new TV - decided not to get Panasonic despite good reviews, thinking if they can mess this unit up so badly, I don't trust them in general.
    • This is one very nice unit except for playing Netflix movies.
    • Other than that one problem, not having the addtional cable for sound, the unit works great
    • Great unit, easy to setup, easy to use, very fast loading times.
    • I would recommend this unit
    • Usually, if you don't upload new firmware, the unit would work anyway.
    • This is a great unit - wireless works well and goes well with the new LG LED TV
    • This is my second Blu-Ray device; my first one was also a Panasonic and was a very satisfactory unit
    • This unit never worked from the start.
    • This unit works great
    • I wanted to save some money so got this less expensive unit but boy
    • After more than a few firmware updates, the unit has been rock solid
    • After reading some reports that the latest firmware update has caused this player to lose access to all internet viewing, I've decided to continue using the BDT220, without updating again, for Prime viewing and hooked up the reliable old LG unit for Netflix access
    • This comapny must have one of the worst customer service units of any major company out there.
    • This unit connected easily to my wireless network and the built in netflix app works great.
    • At that time the unit freezes and I either have to wait about 10 minutes or unplug it to get it to reset
    • I asked my son to find me a good unit and he checkedwith "Consumer Reports" and the Panasonic is what was recommended
    • I programmed the first unit with a 1.3 HDMI cable and it work fine on day one, day 2 my TV would not get a signal from the
    • I am leaving two stars because the unit is not entirely worthless; just frustrating
    • Then, the unit seems to work
    • I like the unit as it works fine.
    • I like the unit as it works fine.
    • The unit is so easy to set up and the functions are so easy to access with the remote
    • I would recommend this unit to a friend.
    • I think it is a faulty unit
    • Regarding the Wi-Fi disconnect issue, I eventually had enough of it and sent it back to Panasonic while I still had a warranty which covered everything but shipping it to them, the unit I got back has the same exact problem
    • Very stylish unit which goes great with my home theater
    • I did eventually succeed, and the Netflix app on this unit has become my favorite...but establishing the network connection was much more of a headache than it needed to be,The two main issues are: 1) this unit is sensitive to security protocols (it can connect with WPA2, it cannot connect to WEP)
    • The unit cannot seem to find the signal, then, when it does connect, operations slow down to a crawl
    • The unit works as advertised
    • The unit has had consistent issues with any input other than wired connection.
    • Excellent, reliable unit at super price.
    • So if you are going to have it wired to net it will probably be a fine unit despite having a terrible interface
    • the unit itself looks good, however, I find its little display too dim to read behind its smoked cover from my usual viewing distance..not a big deal.
    • Now this unit has the same problem
    • I suspect other brands (e.g., Sony) offer similar excellent units, but they have considerably higher sales prices.
    • This is the only player I have with wireless capability, so I dont have any recommendations for a better unit, but both my Roku's, 2 iPads, and 3 other tables/phones have no problem staying hooked up.
    • The 2012 Panasonic uses a different 3D system, so make sure you know the year of your TV.A great unit at a great price.
    • The unit works great.
    • Well, I don't know anyone who has a good story to tell about their blu-ray player's boot time or playback performance, but this unit is pretty clunky by all measures.
    • Anyone who is looking for advanced high end installation options will be looking at more complex units
    • Great unit
    • Looks like I'll be buying another unit
    • To conclude, the unit works great
    • BUT…this unit is terrible about losing your position in a blu-ray movie.
    • Overall it is a good unit that is competitively priced.
    • Overall this seemed to be a good unit with a good price
    • This isn’t a bad unit, but unless you need the very specific two HDMI-out ports, I can’t see what major benefits this Panasonic has over other lower-priced players.
    • good unit beautiful picture only problem is my sony surround sound does not play through amp system but sends it to my tv
