  • Even with the kit lens, we've gotten some great photos.
  • Selecting back button focus, I was able to take sharp landscape photos as well as sharp closeups with nice bokeh
  • I'm still pretty much a point-and-shoot kind of photographer, but enjoy playing around with the settings to take more creative and interesting photos
  • It does take much better photos than my previous camera so ultimately I am happy with it.
  • It is very flexible, I find I do not have the need to carry as many lenses as I used to, and the photos are great.

Reviews around image (5.00 of 5)

  • Those issues aside, I get decent to really good images in horrible conditions and am pretty happy with the camera overall
  • This camera has great image quality, and it really cripples it
  • RAW images at DNG format are easy to use and gets the best out of this camera
  • I'd buy this camera again if I needed to because of the image quality, ease of use, and features at a fair price.
  • The camera offers excellent image quality with lots of details, excellent dynamic range, very low noise levels in all across ISOs, and limitless tweeking options to help getting the best images possible

Reviews around shoot (5.00 of 5)

  • One can get some great pics by being aware of this, positioning him/herself for the proper angle and light direction, and pre-focusing (the camera 6 fps continuous shooting is respectable)
  • I have fun and good success shooting shore birds and the guests at my feeders in AF-S and AF-C (depending on the action)
  • Has some new features I like as well such as more timer shooting choices.
  • It has a fast shutter speed (1/6000 sec), and a fast burst rate at six frames per second while shooting in RAW format
  • Might be nice to have bracketing support, as well as video and interval shooting

Reviews around ability (5.00 of 5)

  • When working in the studio in Live View, the ability to move the spot focus point around is great
  • I really like this camera because of the improved LCD Display Technology and the ability to swivel the display to a position that is comfortable while using
  • The last thing, and I dont like to bring this up, because it does not hinder my photography ability whatsoever, but it could be a problem for people that rely on autofocus, that do not use manual settings.
  • I am much happier with the improvements Pentax has made with their video capabilities, including a better performing Live View function and better ability to adjust to different light levels
  • The ability to add an external, high quality mic makes the sound quality so much better, and easier than mixing in a separate audio channel3) External HDMI out

Reviews around price (5.00 of 5)

  • The price was fair for what I received, and it was a good idea to get the bundle with the 18-135mm lenses
  • If you can afford this price, if you don't mind lugging around a 2-pound camera, and (again, if you're an amateur) if you are willing to take some time to read the manual and experiment a bit, you just might amaze yourself with your photographic talent
  • I'd buy this camera again if I needed to because of the image quality, ease of use, and features at a fair price.

Reviews around feature (4.45 of 5)

  • The next REALLY important feature that you have to use to compare, is the fact that the body of the camera has image stabilization BUILT IN!
  • I haven't used it yet but a really nice feature is using Wifi for remote capture
  • The image quality is great, good high ISO performance, reassuring weather resistant design and many other nice features make me really like this camera.
  • You lose the automatic features, but that has not been a problem.
  • You can use your phone to control almost all of the features, which is definitely a nice feature, but is a little slow

Reviews around lcd (4.28 of 5)

  • The tilt-and-swivel LCD viewfinder works quite well, too bad it isn't a touchscreen
  • I really like this camera because of the improved LCD Display Technology and the ability to swivel the display to a position that is comfortable while using
  • The tilt-and-swivel LCD viewfinder works quite well, too bad it isn't a touchscreen

Reviews around viewfinder (3.97 of 5)

  • The plus sides: Gorgeous pentaprism viewfinder shows you 100% of what you're about to shoot, not 90% like on equivalent Canikon, and is brighter than the Canikon equivalents
  • The tilt-and-swivel LCD viewfinder works quite well, too bad it isn't a touchscreen
  • It's a compromise, but the viewfinder is still better than anything else at this price
  • The tilt-and-swivel LCD viewfinder works quite well, too bad it isn't a touchscreen
  • Yes, you may think its a pretty small deal, but when you look through the K70s view finder, compared the other brands mentioned before, I feel like their viewfinders are DARK.

Reviews around lens (3.92 of 5)

  • Alas, it is also about $450 more expensive (= a good lens)
  • I would suggest getting the body only and a more modest zoom or a prime lens, you will get a really good camera for even less dough, I would recommend that for a beginner to DSLR's .
  • addendumAdded pic # 7, a visual comparison of the Pentax K70 with a basic, bright lens set vs the Oly em5 II with equivalent, good IQ but darker lenses for
  • I also liked how the K-70 has more megapixels and a seemingly better kit lens
  • However, the lens I received was faulty and I mailed it back to Ricoh for a repair under warranty, around mid-July
