I think they sell expensive marking pens and pencils that do just that, but these are a cheap and perfect alternative

I used a clean pencil eraser and began to erase the highlighting

They are eraseable (use the eraser on the opposite end of the pen) so if my plans change, I can erase the highlight as well as the penciled in event

If you highlight over pencil, then try to erase, pencil gets smudged and makes the page messy.

Also, if used on any penciled text the friction will erase both the pencil and the highlighter.
