Unfortunately, the highlight doesn't totally erase and it smears the text beneath it

The eraser can actually smudge the original printed text, making your books look untidy.

Instead, I nearly erased right through the page and it took of most of the words and what was left was smeared (glossy paged text book)

The friction eraser is pretty useless, it smears most printed text.

The whole point is to be able to erase where something was highlighted and not ruin the text underneath, which is what this does

They do erase well although they sometimes smudge the text while they're doing it

Too often, the highlighter has smudged the text I'm highlighting, leaving the pen tip darkened, which then rubs off on the next thing I highlight.

The problem is that is it smears the text on most printed ink therefore it renders the "erasing" useless because I can only use it either on top on my erasable pens (erasing both the text and highlight) or on blank space.

The University where I work has a textbook rental system, and I had hoped that my students could use these pens on the rental books, but the text gets smudged in many books if you have to apply enough pressure to erase the highlighting completely.

This product can be used to teach children to highlight roughly half of what they initially thought was important text.

DO NOT press hard or you will ruin the text.
