For the people who have a defective ear bud - I was ready to blow up today thinking I also had the issue

I'm willing to bet a lot of the sudden ear bud death issues are due to this where the bud isn't actually dead

These do not fit into ear canal like plain earbuds.

This setup doesn't sound nearly as good but at least provides effective ear protection and freedom of movement

I also tried them while juicing but put noise suppressing ear muffs over them and they made juicing fun with music and no noise.

But other than that if you have to work in a food place, I like to wear long shirts and have one in my right ear and a real one in my left and tuck the extra plugs in my shirt and while wearing a hair net, nobody can notice.
