Hand sharpening is a complete fail - last attempt used up about a-half of the pencil with wood cracking and lead breaking

The wood in these Verithin pencils is of poor quality (maybe poor batch?) and falls apart a lot when sharpening

Several pencils had cheaper wood that would not sharpen properly

Only complaint is I have an issue with the pencils not sharpening very well, like the wood tends to crack

This set has weak wood casings that do not sharpen well

The wood splinters, the leads break and get stuck in the sharpener

I tried three methods of sharpening: 1) an electric pencil sharpener, which just rips the wood away 2) a small handheld sharpener that came with another brand of pencils, which overall did the best job, 3) a hand-held Prismacolor Scholar sharpener, which will not sharpen to a point without the breaking the tip of the pencil so that you wind up with about 1/4 to 1/2 of the pencil wasted.

Although, when I received mine, I noticed that there is a duplicate pencil in place of another color that should've been included (there are two Goldenrod pencils, but I haven't figured out which pencil is missing.)But sharpening them is a hassle... the wood tends to crack

I wonder if the wood has gone bad and they have been sitting around in a warehouse for years

I am very disappointed that I can't sharpen them without the lead breaking off leaving me with a section of hollow wood.

I had to sharpen them halfway down because the lead was breaking off and the wood keeps splitting down the middle

The leads break and only one side of the pencil is sharpened, the other side is wood all the way to the end of the point

Soft wood is difficult to sharpen without "eating" up the pencil.

It must be the cheapest wood they could find because one of my pencils is about half length now because of how the wood kept chipping

They were brittle did not sharpen easily, the wood on these pencils spilt and crack.
