With a good quality cable with a rubber boot to maintain a snug fit, we didn't have any more problems.

Really though, any decent xlr cable with a rubber boot is all you need.

I can't say how the microphone actually works as we didn't plug it in or anything, but for $3.99 I think this is a steal if you're looking for a cheap prop for a play, photoshoot, etc.
