- The RD-5R suffers this same serious problem
- Thankfully the RD-5R's firmware is upgradable too
- The RD-5R does program a lot like the GD-77, including the strange requirement (that the TYT, Comm Systems, Anytone, and Motorola's don't have) to have to have each digital channel be part of a Receive Group
- specifically I'd love to see the Community edition of the GD77 CPS (maintained by Roger Clark) support the RD-5R.Build/AppearanceThe RD-5R's physical
- Yes the RD-5R is compatible with all of the earlier UV-5R speaker mikes, chargers, batteries
- If you're not sure about digital or just want an extra radio that doesn't cost a fortune I highly recommend the RD-5R.
