Followed the instructions - cleaned the windshield, turned on the wiper while the windshield was dry for a few minutes, then turned on the wiper fluid to activate them.

After that fiasco, I got home and figured maybe the windshield was too dirty and with Rain-x you need to clean it off first

Next morning I went out with wet paper towels with some added dishwashing liquid to clean off the windshield and as I was wiping down the blades, the yellow part came off
