Roku Premiere+ - HD and 4K UHD Streaming Media Player with HDR

    • Use 4k on your smart tv because you will not be happy with these boxes
    • If you want the fastest possible internet connection and have a router nearby, then get the Premier+; also get this if your TV and AVR are 4K-compatible and you have a large viewing screen (say, 65" or greater)
    • My smart TV lost network connection and I couldn't get it to work, so I bought this, and the HD looks great
    • The remote is much more responsive, it loads faster, and the picture is much better (I don't have a fancy new tv, just regular old HD)
    • Initially I was not planning to purchase an internet streaming device like the Roku because I already had a Smart TV
    • The tv has no problems with the input
    • We have a Sony Blu-ray player with "smart" TV features that we have used to watch Netflix, Amazon, Hulu, etc content for years
    • We needed something to go with our new smart TV.
    • We bought the Roku because our Samsung "smart" TV turned out to be a bit less smart that we thought it was going to be, with it having repeated instances of unexplained logging out from our NETFLIX account.
    • if I want to watch something on Amazon, I use my Samsung smart TV instead
    • They are now enjoying their TV without using their cable.
    • I wanted to view YOUTUBE on my non-smart TV.
    • One of the reasons for purchasing the Sony receiver is that it, along with my Samsung TV, supports ARC which in theory allows me to use the streaming features of the Smart TV to feed the audio back to the receiver and my Klipsch speakers
    • My smart tv is a 65" LG
    • We don't use the smart tv automation, preferring the Roku.
    • love it, better than tv, was relatively easy to set
    • It's flat out amazing that for $21 a month we get damn cheap tv access, one that I would argue is better than the Comcast subscription
    • It is much clearer than my cable tv!
    • When I compared the quality to my smart TV apps the TV apps were clearly better.
    • This works perfectly to get Amazon Prime, Hulu, Acorn and Netflix on my non-smart tv!
    • Best streaming device so far, including our smart TVs
    • We have used the Roku HD, Amazon fire stick, chromecast, the junky "smart tv" features built into our current tv, ps4, ps3, and the Wii U for streaming in the past
    • The image quality on this unit is far superior in all resolutions to what I get on my smart tv wired connnection
    • I was using a Netflix app built into the smart TV which was
    • I just bought a 4K to go with out 4K tv, it upscales old TV programs well
    • So much easier to use than my Samsung Smart TV
    • But I definitely prefer the Roku TV and next time would just get two of those
    • Turns any dumb TV into a Smart TV.I have Netflix, Hulu, Amazon,
    • I feel like I got a new TV since it is all comes through with HD now
    • *4K requires compatible 4K TV & content
    • Back in October of 2016 I purchased a Roku Ultra (Roku Ultra Streaming Media Player) to use with one of my 4K HDR capable Samsung TVs.
    • A good way to make any TV into a smart tv
    • Also have a Roku 3 and Roku stick, Roku 3 seemed to work better with my new smart TV than the new premier.
    • While the system worked out of the box there were several apps (primarily Sling TV) that did not work which was quite disappointing.
    • Two of the TVs are smart but we prefer using the Roku for two reasons: smart TV does not have the PBS channel for streaming and the Roku seems to be better at consistent play using wifi for streaming than the smart TVs we have
    • My 65" 4K Smart TV didn't have Amazon Video
    • I have a Samsung Smart TV and am in the process of setting up a new A/V system with the TV for a home theater
    • My Samsung Smart TV recommends that you avoid leaving still pictures on your screen too long, but it does not have a built in screen saver.
    • Finally it became too annoying to use and I just used the apps on my smart TV (poor selection of apps and slow interface but way less frustrating to use than the ROKU)
    • 1080p)The Roku Premiere+ was meant to extend the capabilities of my Sony UHD smart tv (another dissapointment), but it barely does
    • I used to stream TV and movies through my Xbox 360 and Xbox One as well as Apple TV
    • Most wonderful tv inventions.
    • Better than Smart TV.
    • I initially bought this Roku box for access to content, as I thought it would provide added value over the native content in my smart TV
    • This probably has nothing to doe with ROKU.ROKU was exceedingly easy to hook up and get going with my Smart TV and internet router
    • Live tv sucks on this.
    • The good:Easy to installFast loading of Netflix (which is sometime an issue for these smart TV streamers)Very friendly remote control
    • It provides great streaming services and automatically switches video to UHD when appropriate to use the capabilities of my Smart tv.
    • MY TV IS NOT THE ISSUE
    • There are still free Roku channels that even my fancy TV doesn't have (BBC America).I am able to hook this one up via ethernet directly to my router.
    • Additionally, the Roku UI is a cinch to navigate and very intuitive, definitely better than my smart TV's clunky UI and much more straightforward than a home theater PC.
    • On the upside, it supports 4K TV's but on the downside, it has an extra box, and an IR remote vs. the stick's point anywhere RF remote
    • I was having issues using my smart tv function to get streaming movies / shows to work but this device is very fast and easy to use and I no longer have problems
    • One big hint for those using a "smart" TV as a Roku display: if at first the picture is almost painfully sharp and looks much like a daytime soap opera, turn off or reduce the motion picture setting (supposedly for smoothing motion blur) on your TV.
    • Works great on our 4K smart TV
    • Perfect for turning any TV into a smart TV.
    • We tried Sling directly through our Smart TV, but had several streaming issues, in most cases it made it impossible to watch a show
    • Use with 10 yr old flat LED tv and with a new “smart” tv whose features were a pain to deal with
    • I bought an LG smart TV but always enjoyed the interface via Roku device vs TV
    • Constant HDCP errors, regardless of cable quality, can't do 4k HDR x 60, in-app download performance is around 1/3 rd that of my smart TV.
    • Nice if you have a 4k TV, the Roku 4 is much better than the apps in my Smart TV
    • Finally it became too annoying to use and I just used the apps on my smart TV (poor selection of apps and slow interface but way less frustrating to use than the ROKU)
    • Really nice selection of content that's not available natively on my smart TV.
    • I can watch tv in the same room as my sleeping baby and not disturb her
    • Smart TV spooled often
    • My supposedly-Smart Samsung TV and Comcast xfinity could not figure out how to coexist
    • Loved it so much, bought another one for the bedroom, got Sling TV and dumped Direct TV
    • Imho, its deceptive when they don't quite tell you that the remote your getting with *this particular model doesn't actually support your TV so you can also eliminate that remote in the process!
    • It may be that some HDR compatible TV sets, expecting HDR10 4:2:0 color space data, may not smoothly handle a 4:2:2 stream, or something about the transition may affect the HDCP handshake or mode
    • We have used the Roku HD, Amazon fire stick, chromecast, the junky "smart tv" features built into our current tv, ps4, ps3, and the Wii U for streaming in the past
    • I've had a Chromecast, Apple TV and a Samsung Smart TV for streaming media
    • X940D ‑ 75" 3D LED Smart TV ‑ 4K UltraHD TV along with the Roku Premier Plus
    • Since it can power on my smart tv, it seems that it would be easy for the remote to also control the volume so I could use a single remote, no?
    • so well that I’ll install a 2016 Roku Streaming Stick in the bedroom for convenience, and will enjoy the advantage of have portable TV access while traveling.
    • 60 fps requires a compatible TV & content
    • The TV in my living room is not a smart TV and I wasn't able to watch Netflix, Vudu, or Amazon video on it.
    • The device turns the TV on, works the apps... but THAT"S IT
    • While that is a very smart TV, it's limited in the channels we can stream.
    • Works fine just dont imagine why someone with a 4K TV would buy, unless a cheap model dont come with apps (smart TVs).
    • It is much faster than my smart tv's built-in apps
    • Why buy a smart tv when Roku offers so much more
    • If you are "cutting the cord", you will want to make sure you have a good network in your home to support Live TV this way.
    • You may think that all you need is a smart TV, but if you're having problems with that "smart" TV or simply want more options, ROKU is a great way to go
    • My smart TV lost network connection and I couldn't get it to work, so I bought this, and the HD looks great
    • After laboring for years with "Smart" TV's and DVD Players, I decided to try the Premiere + even though I only have a 1080p TV (for future proofing)
    • I actually have this hooked up to a smart TV, and the TV apps are not updated as frequently as the Roku.
    • So anyway, it's NOT cable, and watching TV is a little more work now but well worth the $100+ a month we are now saving on our cable bill
    • Amazon gives you directions on how to connect to Samsung Smart TV's year 2010 and 2012 but not 2011 which is what I
    • I should say that the video quality on our smart TV at 1080p has been nice and crisp.
    • It works great for when I want to watch TV late at night and not disturb the rest of the family.
    • You basically turn your TV into another Roku smart TV now how can you beat that
    • There are a ton of free streaming options and access to free tv shows
    • Good luck even finding a nice 1080p 55 inch tv or quality 1080p monitor that has muliple hdmi ports and an audio out
    • Our 5-year-old 1080p "smart" TV was struggling just to provide a fuzzy, inconsistent stream from both Netflix and Amazon.
    • I got a brand new Vizio 4K smart TV and my Tivo Romio does not support 4K and the cast apps built in the TV are dificult to use via the Tablet that works a sremote control, so the most economic way to get 4k programing is with this device
    • All other devices in same room, Smart tv, Xbox, CPU all stream content perfectly now, EXCEPT the Roku, which has the same issues
    • Just make sure the TV is compatible or the power button and maybe volume buttons still won't work
    • I recently purchased a Smart TV and was totally disappointed in the multiple steps required to fast forward and reverse when streaming.
    • UHD content appears more vivid, sharp and at a smoother frame rate than apps on my smart tv and resolution/quality of content is a marked difference (even 1080p) over my Apple TV.
    • I evaluated Apple TV's, Western Digital Media access and my smart TV's (of course)... but for a "simple, plug n play, mount behind your TV" type of device, it's hard to beat Roku.
    • The smart TVs have a more limited choice of channels for streaming
    • I finally disconnected my Roku box and switched to my smart TV's built-in streaming capabilities, after which quality and reliability of the above mentioned channels improved dramatically
    • I highly recommend it to anyone trying to make their stupid tv smarter
    • Got a 4K smart tv now so don't need this anymore.
    • Have to use the TV remote, turn the TV off and on again to make the sound work....weird.
    • Turns any TV into a smart TV
    • The TV is brand new, and the HDMI ports support 4k HDR (which is what the Roku automatically detects on setup)
    • I do wish it had available component outputs as my old Samsung TV has an "audio dropout" problem with the hdmi inputs
    • All in all much better than clunky smart tv interfaces
    • For example, when I connect to Netflix using Roku on a 4K/HDR TV it turns screen TV black on and off, then when I try to select a movie, the screen keeps changing before I could even select a movie, then turns black on and off, again; however, I could watch Netflix threw Netflix included on the Smart TV streaming
    • I have recently become an Amazon Prime member and it was painful to use my Smart TV or DVD for their service
    • All in all much better than clunky smart tv interfaces
    • I now have one on each of my 3 "dumb TVs".
    • Love that I can watch tv and not disturb my husband
    • Purchased new tv with built in smart tv but it was buggy
    • After I moved, I decided to dump cable TV completely, as my bill (and this is without their phone service) was pushing $150/month with two premium channels through our cable TV/internet provider
    • It's really no better than a smart TV, so save your money and avoid yet another remote.
    • Just make sure the TV is compatible or the power button and maybe volume buttons still won't work
    • I like the unit and the picture is nice with my Sharp TV
    • The Roku Premiere+ Streaming Media Player offers excellent features and options not offered on most of the current smart TV's or competing streaming devices.
    • Our 5-year-old 1080p "smart" TV was struggling just to provide a fuzzy, inconsistent stream from both Netflix and Amazon.
    • And most of all, supports 4K TV which sets it apart from the competition.
    • I've used my Playstation, Chromecast, and a Smart TV
    • With Roku player HDMI connected to a home theater receiver there's no need to deal with HDMI incompatibility issues between so-called smart TVs and the receiver.
    • It surely has made our smart tv smarter
    • This is my third Roku which I use because it is easier to access my streaming options via the Roku than it is my new Smart TV, and because I am able to access all the streaming options, some of which are not available even on my brand new Smart TV.
    • Vizo smart TV we have does not get HBO Go and several other apps that the Roku has.
    • Not only that, most smart TVs now have their own streaming services that come over the internet
    • My 80 year old parents could figure it out and use it on amazon and netflix without issue on their not-so-smart TV, prehistoric Comcast set-up, and their new fancy-shmancy system
    • The streaming quality (in my limited experience) was excellent, and there are many more apps available to download than were available on my Smart TV.
    • For the Full HD content, the TV is a better media player, and always the audio works as well.
    • I purchased because my smart tv didn't have all the features to access my content
    • Sling TV ( free trial ) and tuned in to one of the marathon
    • We have smart tv's, Amazon Fire and Roku streaming devices on the various devices around the house
    • I already had a smart TV capable of doing much of what this does and already had an Amazon Prime and Netflix accounts.
