You'll just have a proper MIDI connection to your equipment

I purchased a cheaper midi to usb cable & it wouldn't work for my device.

Finally, a MIDI to USB that works great all the time!

Only used midi out to usb which worked fine.

The cheaper USB midi interfaces often don't properly send SYSEX messages to properly set up and control those older sound modules and synthesizers.
