rOtring 600 0.5mm Black Barrel Mechanical Pencil (1904443)

    • I found the tip of the pencil bends way too easy and when it fell on the ground from waist level, the top metal piece dented and the paint chipped away.
    • If the made a retractable tip that was dead solid.
    • Nicely balanced, only complaint is that the tip is very fragile so it gets bent easily if dropped the wrong way
    • Very fragile tip, and not easily repairable
    • Still, the tip manage to fall off after 2 months of light use
    • The tip is non-retractable so transportation should be done with a little caution
    • Then, you will be forced to very carefully straighten the fine tip out
    • The tip is the bane of this pencil
    • I got mine from JetPens for the same cost, it has a retractable tip (no lead hardness indicator), several erasers, and extra lead.
    • It fell, of course, and the tip
    • The mechanicsm is smooth and never had any lead getting stuck, the tip is a serious problem, you are paying for a pencil that costs $30, but when your tip breaks you will be looking at an obsolete paper weight.
    • the tip broke
    • it has the retractable tip.
    • Even the eraser is great! My one caveat is a pretty significant one: the tip is very fragile and extremely susceptible to bending
    • The only thing I can see something going wrong is the front led feeding tip breaking since it sticks out and careless placement of the pencil could result in damage
    • Unfortunately, this pencil does have one significant flaw: the tip of the pencil is very fragile and liable to break if dropped
    • And yes, I know there is a model with a retractable tip, but I wanted to use the 600.Anyway, great pencil
    • Even though I really like my pencil in the last couple of days I noticed that tip of my pencil started to lose some color I being trying to contact the seller
    • If you use them outside of that environment, be careful with the non-retractable tip.
    • I love the reviews that say "the non-retractable tip is fragile" and then proceed to ding it a star.
    • The non-retractable tip feels extremely precise and steady.-Useful lead hardness indicator for those that use various grades
    • I also have a rOtring Rapid Pro that is the pencil I carry with me on the go, due to the retractable tip, and it is a great pencil as well, but it is heavier than the 600
    • As a result of its weight, the non-retractable tip is highly vulnerable when it falls onto a hard surface, which will happen
    • This has caused me to rethink using a mechanical pencil without having a retractable tip as others in the Rotring line have.
    • The clip was too stiff to be usable, and I always felt like I would bend the tip,
    • The tip, unlike the rest of the pencil, looks easy to bend if it were to be dropped on it's point though.
    • As a result of its weight, the non-retractable tip is highly vulnerable when it falls onto a hard surface, which will happen
    • Secondly, the tip of the pencil is very fragile.
    • Wish it has a retractable tip.
    • Maybe it can be prepared, I would recommend buying the pencil with a retractable tip if you're near a hard surface.
    • However, tip is fragile.
    • The lead tip provides a perfect fit
    • Just keep the tip safe and this thing will last forever
    • Its a very nice pencil, with one drawback - it doesn't retract the nearly hypodermic tip.
    • Love this pencil, will be upgrading to the 800 series for the retractable tip though
    • I love the reviews that say "the non-retractable tip is fragile" and then proceed to ding it a star.
    • I have done so twice, and the tip changed its angle (resulting in lead cracking as I clicked), but have luckily been able bend it back
    • I have read previously that the tip is fragile
    • It's durable, heavy, doesn't get all sticky when you sweat and the tip is not as delicate as you think
    • I gathered my wits and began the act of straightening out the tip
    • I immediately ordered a replacement and dropped it on the first day and once again bent the tip and ruining it as well
    • Personally I am just going to replace with the 800, it has the retractable tip to prevent this very scenario .
    • only if it had a retractable tip, I am super cautious with the way I handle this thing because I don't want the tip to break
    • Buy the one with the retractable tip.
    • way flimsy, the tip is definitely not pocket-worthy.
    • Black color, hexagonal designMetal body, very strongNon-retracting tip (feels more sturdy, with pen cap do not need to worry about it)Personal Cons
    • Rotring is clearly aware of the problem, since the upgraded version of this pencil, the Rotring 800 (which sells for roughly double the price), is distinguished by having a retractable tip
    • It does have a sharp tip that is not retractable, but that's what a pencil case is for
    • ripped the tip out and now the led is too wobbley to use
    • but i am hoping i can find cheap replacement tips as i know ill drop it one day and bend it
    • This pencil is built like a tank but there is one major flaw: the weak, bendable tip.
    • Upgrading to the 900 with the retractable tip would be a good idea if you need something you want to be able to take a serious beating.
    • I'm on the fence about rating it 4 stars instead of five only because the tip (lead tube) feels super dainty and there have been reports of it crushing
    • i dropped it once and the tip is still fine
    • Although I wouldn't EDC this pencil the fine tip won't take the
    • I hope fellow pen-spinners can heed my advice and purchase a pencil with a retractable or protected tip
    • The tip can break if the pencil is dropped for sat on while its sitting in your pocket
    • I know that the tip is very delicate and might bend or break, I've had one since 1993
    • I had recently purchased this Mechanical Pencil five days ago to only have the very tip of the pencil (where the led comes out) had fell on the floor and is ruined completely.
    • Awesome pencil but after a couple weeks of lite use the tip broke off and is now unusable.
    • The tip is nice and tight, and you'll never feel any unexpected shifts or movements while writing
    • I currently keep mine tucked inside the spiral spine of my daily planner and the clip holds it in place, and the tip is safe
    • It's heavily weighted and feels solid, the tip is sturdy and when you press the top for more lead, doesn't give you a
    • Definitely a quality writing untensil, my only concerns are protecting the tip and the volume of the click when advancing new lead
    • The tip is fragile, so I made a case for holding it in my pocket
    • The tip will bend with any fall, why bother having all metal body if the tip is so delicate
    • If you are worried about this, get the rOtring 800 instead, which provides a retractable tip if I recall correctly
    • The tip being unable to be retracted means a certain level of care must be directed towards not dropping the pencil or letting it bend in a pocket
    • I kept my pencil with the box at all times (since the tip is not retractable) and with great care and even then the tip broke
    • However, the tip is very fragile
    • concern with on the 800 is the play in the retractable tip, lead breakage (already happened), breakage of plastic rotation engagement, and reasonable source for erasers (Pentel erasers work in 600).
    • yet I like the idea of the retractable tip better in the 800
    • It reminds me of the slop/play that retracting-tip mechanical pencils exhibit
    • I prefer the 800 for the retractable tip
    • I believe the rOtring 800 has a retractable tip, but I don't think it is worth the additional cost
    • Dropped once, broke the tip
    • Only drawback is that the tip is not retractable so it's susceptible to bending if drop; however, it's easy avoidable by being careful or keeping it in a case.
    • As others have pointed out, the metal point holding the lead tip is delicate, and it is likely to bend if the pencil is dropped.
    • and I wish it had something to protect tip from breaking for falls... love the color and heavy duty feeling and writing
    • Now, it would be great if the tip lasted longer
    • Good choice for desk only use but the tip isn't shirt pocket friendly.
    • The tip broke very easily
    • The tip, being so delicate, is the biggest design flaw.
    • However, I've heard (not sure, as I don't have it) the retractable tip may have very little flexibility (as in wobbling), and that's why I went with the 600 instead
    • It's great, too, and the benefits of a retractable tip may be enough to sway buyers in that direction
    • My Precious!I don't know why the black version is more expensive
    • There are so many positives I'll focus on the issues that have merit
