If you are trying to use more than one external hard drive with your Surface Pro, this port is ideal.

Totally solved my issues with having only one USB port available on my computer!

I have a Dell computer and a Mac and neither one has enough USB ports to satisfy my uses

The original Hub I received had a defective port, specifically the port closest to the power cord port

All four ports drop out and lose connectivity.

Kind of defeats the purpose of getting a hub because you still have to unplug other devices to free up ports

Also, it says every port has a power indicator LED, but on both units only 3 of the ports appear to have working LEDs

After many trial and errors, I plugged a device I wanted to use and a new port appeared in device manager with the number assigned to that device as the port number

I have tried multiple USB hubs for my new laptop that doesn't have enough ports, and none of them would recognize several peripherals that I need to use on a daily basis.

If you are purchasing this port to make your desktop USB slots more accessible to you for a desktop PC, I would highly recommend a USB 3.0 male-to-female extension cable.

For me, it was worth the purchase price and has made my life a bit easier now that I don't have to bend down beneath my desk for a free USB port.

this is likely less of an issue if you keep your computer and devices stationary on your desk.as this device enable me to free up a usb port, i can work around this, but wanted to mention it for those thinking they can use it for usb external hard drives, YMMV.

I had to remove a star due to the annoying 1st port 'malfunction' issue when using the power adapter

There's no mention in the technical description at all that the external power supply will only power three of the ports (the three right ports)

I ordered this mainly for the Power Adaptor and switched ports which works very well, however USB 3.0 devices connected to it do not connect as USB 3.0

I have one unresponsive port at the end part of the device and when I do manage to connect it, the device is disconnected with just a single tap at the switch

I like it just be careful that you don't put too much load on it or your pc will shut off the port that the hub is plugged into but for an external HDD, a card reader and an mp3 player it works fine

Very good product , it turned my useless USB port which disconnect itself and turns " unrecognized" by Windows after 30 seconds of use , turned it into 4 functional USB ports with great connectivity with no hussle ( I am using it for : wireless keyboard& mouse , data transfer , USB light bulb , and for whatever : charging, printer etc) and 4 ports would work simultaneously with no troubles

Apparently when connected to the power adapter alone the port 1 LED does not light up and unlike ports 2,3, and 4, only lights up when the device is connected to an active USB port on a powered up machine

It did not come with a power supply, but oddly enough the power supply illuminates all 4 ports.

This 4 port device works almost perfectly, but even with this small problem I give it 5 stars.

I have two Corsiar GTX thumb-drives and because they are wide you lose one port... so could only use 2 out of the 4 ports... not good.

A USB hub is also important when working with custom or questionable hardware to help protect your computers ports from being damaged by a defective device.

All four ports work exactly as described and the buttons at the top are switches to turn the port on or off

Having only 2 USB ports on my laptop, I wanted to use this hub to easily connect several devices to it, but apparently this device has absolutely no reliability to work with such important and sensitive devices like external drives, so I came up with the same issue of having less USB ports available than I need just like before buying this hub.

I was concerned that my 450 power supply might have issues powering this new device, thus, this Sabrent, with its own power supply was the perfect choice, I had bought one of these a long while ago, for a newer computer, and have experienced no problems, the port off/on switches make this hub worth the money

Obviously, the power adaptor with its 5v boost is most helpful when charging high output devices or a necessary stand-alone in a situation where there are no powered USB ports available.

This is a really good USB-3 multi-port powered device which you really need with laptops and express cards.

The buttons on this are pretty wobbly/loose and one of the ports won't even turn on, not sure if that's due to a bad button or bad port, but the LED won't turn on and it won't power my device

Usually, external drives won't work unless they're plugged directly into your laptop or PC, which becomes a problem if you don't have enough USB ports to go around

I used these to gain more USB 3 ports on my gaming PC, and had to buy a USB 3 extension cable in order to mount this under my desk

I had to split my used ports between the 1st and 3rd to get the Sensor to register properly.

We needed the extra ports to get an Oculus working, and this worked great.

Also the ports are too close together to allow most thumb drives to use adjacent ports, so with this 4-port hub only two or three ports are usable depending on the physical size of the thumb drives.

I keep looking at the picture and it does not seem like there is a port for the DC and the picture looks exactly like the version I received minus the power cable in the bubble
