Nice to have switches for each port

The switches have a satisfying click to them and it never feels like they're going to accidentally get un-switched.

I have hardware like flight yokes, rudder pedals, switch panels and throttles all running to USB ports

All four ports work exactly as described and the buttons at the top are switches to turn the port on or off

The switches make it very easy to power on only the devices I need at the moment

Also, the switches get a bit fussy about staying in the down position, and sometimes you've got to push it in 'with authority'.

The on/off switches are handy if you want to keep a thumb drive installed for backups and have the ability to prevent accidental or malicious access to it.

I actually plan to use this with some LED lights that run off of 5V and the switch will be nice to have a central place to toggle them.

The switches are quite handy.

When I first attached the hub to my computer I thought it was not working, but I needed to depress the individual power switches

No drivers needed and the individual switches are nice to power on devices.

They work well and I love the switches to turn the individual ports on or of.

Furthermore, everything connected to it registers very quickly and doesn't seem to take any additional time to process at all going through it, the second you engage the button for whatever's connected to that slot (actually unlike any other USB hub/splitter I've had in the past).Also, turns out, the switches are actually very useful, especially if you don't necessarily need/want to necessarily plug whatever drives/components out after you plug them in but don't want them necessarily showing up/being registered all the time in your OS.

This switch confuses my older MAC Mini (2007).

To sum up, if you're looking for a hub to hookup smaller USB devices, I think is a good choice, as the switches come in handy.
