The other nice thing is it works with IDE drives and SATA.

One thing to note, the box itself says 'Supports hard drives up to 2 TB', both untrue (I'm running a 3TB WD Blue drive in there now, just fine), but also there's no mention in the listing of that potentially helpful (or harmful) piece of information.

Although when you turn it off while there is a program open you may wonder if it is a safe thing to do but so far so good

Good thing because the fan on one of them was snapped off the spindle of the small motor that drives it

I won't even bother to send this thing back since I've wasted far too much time with it already

The only thing that would make it better would be some way to attach the stabilizing foot to the case to ensure it doesn't topple over on cluttered desks like mine

Good thing I was only putting in a 2TB drive, as it states that's the max supported?I put this behind my monitor, as the 2 indicator lights up front are pretty bright

I've had some odd issues with the hard drive not being picked up, having to reset the enclosure, things like that

The fan is doing it's job keeping things cool

The only other thing I would be worried about is a shock (G's) from dropping it

This thing is great, exactly what I needed.. my ole IDE drive stopped showing up using a cheap IDE/Sata converter that I ordered here on Amazon

They look good if you, like me, enjoy things that look completely nondescript.3

Using a 75% duty cycle rather than a 10% duty cycle means that testing completes 7.5 times as fast which is a good thing when there are several drives to test

Best of all I have had no i/o issues with the drive.

By the way, I also bought an SD card and thumb drive for back-ups, now that 64G is so cheap.

On the surface, it would seem the only downside is the USB 2.0 and 3G SATA II limitations, and needing to scrounge up my own eSATA cable

I bought one of these enclosures and installed a Seagate SATA ST3500410SV 500G hard drive for use on my MOXI DVR model 3012 (the "black" fronted version), which requires an eSATA external drive.
