Samsung 860 EVO 500GB 2.5 Inch SATA III Internal SSD (MZ-76E500B/AM)

    • I ordered a hard disk and tested through the Crystal Disk benchmark
    • Replace traditional hard disk with it, 7 yrs old macbook like new again
    • The hard disk drive I had prior to this installation worked
    • I only buy Samsung SSDs even when they cost slightly more, because only Samsung include disk cloning software that works reliably, and because Samsung's QA (quality assurance / testing) ensures that you never get a dud.
    • The old drive was a 1 GB 5400 rpm hard disk drive, and the computer boots up in about 20 seconds now compared to nearly a minute before
    • bought this to replace the hard disk in an older windows machine
    • Not only my laptop turns on and off faster, many other actions are much faster as well, such as downloading, clean disk, copy files, etc.
    • Have disk top computers.
    • Fast and silent this SSD breathed new life into a computer with a dying hard disk.
    • Hard disk crashed ☹
    • My computer came with a 128 GB solid state drive “C” drive for Windows and programs and a massive separate regular hard disk drive for data storage, music, videos, etc.
    • My old (2015) HP Envy 700-515XT performed badly only because of slow disk access.
    • Then start up laptop and hold Command, option, and R all at the same time and the computer will enter Internet Recovery Mode, from here click disk utility and erase (format) the new drive with "Mac os Journaled (extended
    • but I didn't want to have to reinstall the tons of existing programs and drivers); however if you need to clone to a hard disk drive (I later decided to upgrade the secondary hard drive as well) I would recommend getting a different, powered cable to transfer data because the SATA connection won't be enough to power a 3.5" HDD.So far so good, I also got this particular drive because of the relatively long 5-year limited warranty
    • Using a computer with SSD's in it isn't something I'm willing to ever downgrade from because using a computer with slow spinning hard disks makes me thing something is seriously wrong with those slow operating computers.
    • My PC used to have a traditional hard disk drive, which served its purpose well - except when it came to booting up the system which, due to the multitude of recording and instrument software, would take 2+ minutes to start up
    • Before that HDD was running at 100% most of the time, during updates or intense disk operations
    • The SSD is worth it as it is so much faster than the conventional hard disk and seems to be a very reliable product so far.
    • Highly recommend changing from a hard disk to solid state drive of the Samsung 860.
    • To be fair, I replaced a ten year old 630GB hard disk that had a minuscule 16meg on-board catch - if you're running something more
    • I have a ton more free disk space (680GB instead of 60GB
    • Until now disks are working perfectly.
    • What DID work was using Windows 7's native Backup & Restore feature to create a full system image of the old SSD on one of my mechanical hard disks, and then using a bootable Windows system repair DVD to "restore" that image to the new SSD
    • I have quite a few, including the 500gb 860 EVO, older 840’s and 850’s that seem to last forever, as well
