Setup was easy was able to clone my full 120GB hard drive in under an hour with Samsung disk management software available for free download on the Samsung website

so other than the inoperable install software, I LOVE my new drive.

Even the Samsung Magician software is not very helpful

This is my second SSD purchase - the first one was a 500GB model, which got filled up very quickly, and when I tried to "cheat" the system by putting the OS on the SSD, and all of my other software on a separate HDD, I discovered that some software doesn't play nice, and you may find out that there are software manufacturers that do not support the SSD/HDD split

The recommended software "Magician" did not work with my HHD

It did detect it as a USB attached hard drive, but says that the software is incompatible with the drive.

There is free software available for download that purports to be able to “clone”, but make sure that all of your “program settings” will be copied too

, I've done this a number of times and my process looks like this- back up the drive being replaced- clean anything non-system related off the drive ( pictures, videos, non-essential programs that can be re-installed fairly easily ) - this will speed up the cloning- clone the drive to be replaced (thank you Samsung for providing the software to do this)- remove the old drive and pop in the SSD- boot the system to make sure everything went well- assuming the above went well I usually will reformat the old drive and add it as a secondary drive reinstalling my games et al, and copying in the backed up pictures, videos, music, etc on the secondary drive- adjust my system using Samsung's Magician software and boost my swap file size to optimize the use of the SSDI love these SSDs, any system I build now includes one as the boot drive by default

Samsung Magician software is recommended, non-intrusive, and will keep the firmware across all your Samsung drives updated, and can be used to provide an added RAM cache for greater throughput when combined with this SSD.I've installed and operate dozens of Samsung 840 and 850 SSD drives, and several 960 M.2 drives.

The software (magic) they recommend isn't compatible with this model, but overall no complaints

Only issue was the Samsung Magician software not detecting the drive as genuine - which was easy to fix by hunting for the latest Samsung Magician software under their support.

They also have a really nice tuning software (all free) for the drive.

Not sure why, or how helpful the software was going to be, but I was not very pleased to pay this much and not have the software work.

Used Macrium software (free download) to clone the internal drive and USB adaptor to copy internal to SSD prior to swap.

There are videos on youtube on how to backup your existing harddrive to a new SSD through some free software and the usb-sata cables..

The magician software that they advertise in the package is totally worthless as far as I am concerned

I should have purchased the Crucial drive, since it's 'FREE' software seems to work with the Crucial drive and there weren't bad reviews.
