I would suggest going in and adjusting the picture settings for your preferences (especially the ECO mode settings which made the TV automatically dim too much for me in a dark room).

Of course it looks best when the room is a bit darker

They calibrate their TVs in a dark room.

I tested picture with a dead pixel detector and the black is so black in a dark room no light is on the tv

If you have a bright room, look no further, this is the unit

Movie - the most important change.backlight: 12 - CNET's setting of 7 is way too low unless you are in a really dark room.
