Samsung Xpress M2020W Wireless Monochrome Laser Printer with Simple NFC + WiFi Connectivity, Amazon Dash Replenishment Enabled (SS272H)

    • This review is based mostly on setup for Google Cloud Print for a Chromebook.
    • Regardless, it does not sync to Google Cloud Print
    • Once it is set up any computer can access it through google cloud print
    • My main objective was to get a printer for my sister that would print reliably from Google Cloud Print using a ChromeBook/Box
    • Google Cloud print set up was a pain as the firmware is buggy - I had to do it 3 or 4 times before it stuck
    • I initially had some issues with using the windows driver and it waking up from standby it would always say "print offline" and id have to manually turn it on, for some reason printing via google cloud or IPP didnt exhibit the same issues
    • I tried getting it to use Google Cloud Print on the ipad as a partial solution but, alas, no joy
    • After several hours of Google searches, false starts, and support chats, I am finally printing via Google Cloud Print from my Chromebook and from Samsung Cloud Print on my Nexus phone
    • Setting it up on google cloud print was ok once you find the right directions.
    • Once these options are setup, the printer seems to behave just fine, but again, it takes about 10 minutes before it connects to the google cloud print servers/service..
    • The link from Google Cloud Print's site to the Samsung.com site which is supposed to have the instructions "is not available".A call to Samsung's help line determined that the printer wasn't "Wireless ready"!!
    • I originally purchased a Canon 5520 but it did not work well with Google Cloud Print
    • Router settings must be set correctly too allow google cloud print services to communicate with the printer!!
    • I can print from my phone using Google cloud print or any computer when logged into google
    • Pros - Cheap, superb print quality for documents, quick to setup, google cloud print, compactCons - expensive toner (almost as costly as the printer), poor image
    • This printer was selected because it very explicitly is promoted as being "Google Cloud Print Ready" which means it easily pairs with a Chromebook laptop
    • Google Cloud Print and Apple Airprint work wonderfully
    • Soo, something wacky is just going on, where the printer doesn't connect to google cloud print for a while, I guess..
    • To install on google cloud print (for chromebooks) you have to use a mac/windows/linux computer first (painful, -1 star)
    • Other OS support seems OK, but I bought it explicitly for Google Cloud Printing
    • All OS (MULTI LANGUAGE, 5.23 MB)) that ostensibly offers Google Cloud Print version 2 support
    • Poor Google Cloud Print support.
    • Despite numerous attempts, the printer was unable to register with Google Cloud Print for wireless printing
    • Setting up Google cloud printing wasn't hard, but sometimes it prints in 30 seconds, and sometimes it takes
    • Convoluted way of using it with Google Cloud Print
    • On the Google Cloud Print website, the M2020W is listed as Cloud Print capable, but when I try to add the printer to my list of printers, the model is unavailable
    • * Manual can be viewed in browser, which is the only way you can view anything on Chrome OS.(I only mention this because my other "Google Cloud Print ready" printer by a different brand had a manual that could not be viewed on a browser
    • You have to change that value to use google cloud print!!2)
    • Says it's "Google Cloud Print Ready," even on the box.
    • This means I needed to set up google cloud printing.
    • Please don't waste time reading any directions about using this with a Chromebook or Google Cloud Print until you have in connected to your WIFI
    • It would sometimes print using Google Cloud Print and sometimes I would have to play around with sequencing events properly for it to print thru my Chromebooks.
    • I saw there is new firmware available which addressed Google Cloud Print issues....problem is you can only update the firmware through a pc or mac
    • Says it's "Google Cloud Print Ready," even on the box.
    • If you set up Google Cloud Print, you can print from anywhere.
    • Pain in the ass to use with Google Cloud Print, but sets up easily on my home network and prints quickly and in good quality.
    • I bought it for Google Cloud printing to print from a couple of Chromebooks and it rarely works right
    • Then was able to register with Google Cloud Print
    • It seems as if this printer doesn't automatically connect to the google cloud print service..
    • Poor Google Cloud Print support.
    • But....Beware of wireless setup with Chromebook using Google Cloud Print
    • Setup, especially for Google Cloud Print was a huge pain
    • Samsung help suggested registering and using Google Cloud Print (what I have been using on my old printer, and was trying to get away from), but I can't even make that registration work, again, the whole setup is inimical to Chrome.
    • Then from the left menu, select "Google Cloud Print" and then hit Register in the right panel..
    • Also has smartphone capabilities including NFC that get the job done and Google cloud print.
    • This printer was selected because it very explicitly is promoted as being "Google Cloud Print Ready" which means it easily pairs with a Chromebook laptop
    • But be prepared for some troubleshooting like going to Samsung and reading how to install it correctly via cloud print by connecting via the printers IP gateway access (which was by typing 192.168.1.115 in my case in the browser to access Samsung's SyncThru Web Service, yours may be different), and configuring the printer to work via Google Cloud Print.
    • This printer supports airprint and Google cloud print
    • The printer is a good value and was easy to set up (using a different desktop computer to load the drivers and set up the wireless connection), but I had difficulty setting up the Google Cloud Print using Samsung's SyncThru Web Service.
    • This product works for Google Cloud Print, so buy it!
    • Purchased for Google Cloud Print compatibility, for Chromebooks
    • I think every manufacturer has to take a good hard look at how their product works with the Google Cloud Print and Air Print
    • If that's left at 1 minute, the printer turns itself off before it ever even attempts to get google cloud print info!!!!
    • So you've got Google Cloud Printing set up!
    • It was a bit of a nightmare trying to set it up for google cloud printing-- which is what I bought the stinkin' thing for in the first place, I finally got it set up, and then I think a couple of weeks later somehow the settings changed, and our chromebook can no longer print to it
    • Connects AND prints with NFC or Google cloud print
    • Print directly from your phone or tablet, Android or IOS via AirPrint or Google Cloud Print
    • But it is Google Cloud print ready
    • The included instructions do not include pairing with Google Cloud Print.2
    • AND it worked with Google Cloud
    • Chromebook laptop took the most time to connect for various reasons.... namely you must use Google Cloud Print to make a Chromebook laptop work.
    • Then I finally figured out how to set up Google Cloud Print, which was a lot more convoluted than I expected it to be.
    • Seriously, what the heck is the point of WPS connecting to a network if your connected printer CANNOT DO A DAMN THING until you hardwire connect it via USB anyway? So, to sum up: It is NOT able to use Wireless Protected Setup to setup the printer, it is NOT able to use Google Cloud Print without a PC or Mac connected via USB and thus is NOT Google Cloud Print "Ready" as it claims, and if you only have a Chromebook you are SCREWED.
    • It is a little annoying that as far as I can tell, you MUST have a windows machine connected to the printer to install the update which defeats the purpose of a google cloud printer, but I suppose most people will have a windows box too
    • Pretty much, whoever will be using the google cloud printer will want to go to that link while logged into their google account.
    • login to Samsung Sync Thru Services (default is: admin/sec00000)8. connect it to your google account (under "settings>network settings>Google Cloud Print")9
    • But it is Google Cloud print ready
    • After Disabling WIFI Direct using the CD software as advised by another poster (thank you) everything works fine including Google Cloud Print for which I bought the printer
    • I purchased this printer for my mother-in-law to use with her Chromebook (since you need a printer that works with Google Cloud Print to print from a Chromebook).
    • The starter toner cartridge capacity is 500 pages (full cartridge is 1,000 pages).Installing Google Cloud Print
    • I've only had the printer about a month, so I can't speak to its ability to work over time, but it was very easy to setup with Google Cloud Print and now I can print from my laptop or smartphone, whether I am at home or anywhere
    • But this one won't even hook up, wifi (unsecure visitor, 2.4G or 5G) or by direct USB -- nada.
