I have read that some people get a "bad copy"

Im just glad that I got a good copy on my second try.

It's sharp and produces excellent photos if you get a good copy

This lens is cheap because it's manual focus, manual aperture, lacks image stabilization, has strong distortion, and getting a good copy is a gamble.

My good copy is an excellent lens - except for the distortion.

Hopefully the next copy is better with the focus, and isn't a dud in terms of image quality

I recommend this lens, but know what you're getting into and be prepared to hunt for a good copy

Considering the price, it simply cannot be beat, Pixel Peepers will not be satisfied until they go through 4 or 5 copies because lets face it, unless it is a perfectly sharp copy at 100% zoomed in on a pixel peeping display they won't be satisfied.

But it's disappointing to get a bad copy, especially when it was already a customer return, I'm guessing for the same reasons that I returned it

If you don't abuse it and you get a good copy (mine was fine, and i can't speak for others) then you probably will have a good piece of glass that will do you justice.-1 star for the cheapness of the lens.. the quality is as good as I can expect and I can't detect softness on my "measly 12mp

My copy was consistently very soft on the left edge (about the left 15-20% of the image) at all apertures, but was sharp on across to the right edge

Of course I returned it right away, but I knew that a lot of people are struggling with defects with this specific model and it is pure 'luck' for customers to get a good copy with this lens, so I decided to give it another shot and got Samyang version of it
