SanDisk Extreme CZ80 16GB USB 3.0 Flash Drive Speed Up To 190MB/s- SDCZ80-016G-G46

    • Took 6 min to copy a 29gb file to it and 2 and a half mins to write it back to the hard drive
    • It shows up as a hard drive instead
    • They assume that all 2.0 USB is the same and 3.0's are faster, but if you don't check it out some USB 3.0 drives aren't even that much faster than 2.0's
    • Yes, you can actually have a complete Linux OS (Ubuntu, Linux Mint, Fedora, etc.) running on this flash drive without ever having to install anything on your hard drives
    • My only complaint is that I have been unable to use this as a bootable usb since it shows up as an external hard drive when plugged into the computer.
    • Overall I would still recommend this drive for the price and performance, but it could stand to be more compact with a more solid / durable case.
    • Nice and speedy flash drive.
    • The price isn't really a con, maybe by the time you're reading this, this drive may come down to under $20.I would definitely recommend this to anyone who is looking for a drive with a fast write speed and hates waiting for files to transfer/write to their flash drive from their computer.
    • Its speeds are much slower than solid state drives
    • It's an annoyance on older systems and with programs that attempt to exclude hard drives from listed storage mediums(like recovery media software), but not something you can fault Sandisk on
    • This is a great little jump drive.
    • If you are just buying this to transfer files and hold your documents, it is a great drive at a great price
    • Very nice 3.0 thumb drive.
    • And I can easily access my old Microsoft Office documents which reside on the hard drive
    • I can use the capacity now, but not yet the speed of which this drive is capable.
    • This is a seriously fast thumb drive
    • I usually buy a cheap flash drives
    • The drive also performs great on USB 2.0 ports, maximizing the available bandwidth at ~40MBps
    • I tried buying a batch of cheaper drives and they were completely unusable.
    • There's not really special about the drive itself (retractable plug, not particularly thick, kind of long, lanyard loop, normal plastic.)
    • Definitely recommend this flash drive.
    • There are faster drives, but the balance between speed & price makes this one a great buy for my purposes.
    • the drive feels ready to flex apart in my hands and like the side could easily be punctured by sharp keys in my pocket.
    • That being said, it is still a great drive, fast, and exactly what I was looking for.
    • In the past I’ve always had cheap flash drives, and after one of my cheap-o Kingston drives died on
    • Fastest USB 3.0 drive available at the time of my purchase
    • Super fast drive, have used in many devices and platforms and no issues.
    • The drive has severe issues when used with an Acer C720 Chromebook, so for all intents and purposes, this drive is almost useless for its intended purpose.
    • I've had this drive since October 2013 and the case is already broken just from being in my pocket
    • This is a super fast drive but the encryption hung up on me and both wiped out the drive and created serious stability problems and two windows 8.1 notebooks.
    • Great thumb drive, but I had it on my keys to keep with me at all time and the piece that you clip onto is not well-built
    • but I used to think that about hard drives also.
    • It may not work well on older computers, but that's not the drive's fault, despite being backward compatible.
    • Best USB3 Flash Drive you can get.
    • Treated as a "Hard Drive"
    • VERY Fast - hands-down SanDisk makes the best flash drives available, Noticeably faster than other brands that claim USB 3.0 speed, SanDisk drives provide True USB 3.0 throughput
    • Pros:This drive is very fast
    • Very fast USB drive!
    • The spring is pretty strong, but the spring loading feature alone should not damage the drive itself
    • Very good Flash Drive
    • Great flash drive, works well.
    • I get about 230MB/s read when I am moving a large file to the solid state drive on my laptop
    • this is an awesome flash drive, its fast and built good, i really like the slide action it has, like a switch blade..!
    • One of the best bangs for your buck for when it comes to fast flash drives.
    • With the standard 2.0 flash drives that are so affordable for HP and cheaper flash drives from different brands (including SanDisk), you eventually realize you are sitting there for a VERY long time, when you are trying to do large file transfers.
    • hard drive 1 TB HGST Travelstar 7K1000
    • This is probably a good flash drive if you're extremely lucky enough to get one that works
    • The drives are excellent in terms of "hardware" only
    • This is my #1 recommend 3.0 flash drive
    • While not as fast as a flash drive should be it performs almost well enough to require a usb 3 interface (few flash drives really require usb 3 for speed)
    • Great drive and very easy to use.
    • I have to say these are impressively fast drives, even on a USB2.0 bus.
    • A lot of others have posted their speeds, so I'll just comment that this is an Excellent Flash Drive.
    • Great flash drive.
    • The length is perhaps a half inch longer than those cheap generic drives, but definitely still within the range of "standard."Now on to performance.
    • This drive so far is fast enough for most programs to transfer quickly - depending how fast/slow your hard drive is
    • This provides an extra backup in case you lose your flash drive.(5)Lifetime warranty, same as Verbatim, is much longer than the warranty for Kingston (5-year), PNY (1-year) and other flash drives.(6
    • This flash is the fastest flash drive I've ever had
    • Fast drive and reliable
    • I love that drive
    • I hate to wait for slow file transfers, this is by far the fastest drive I have ever own, you can not go wrong with this.
    • Pair it with a fast drive and you can get blazing speeds
    • Great thumb drive at a great price.
    • I love this drive, and had the 16GB USB 2.0 version before this one
    • , we will look back and think how slow this drive is...however, the size of the drive should also increase quite a bit too
    • All I know for sure is that if you're like me and only recently upgraded to USB 3.0, this drive is crazy fast.
    • Fast drive, still works well after using it for more than a year, but the plastic mechanism that extrudes or withdraws the physical interface breaks too easily.
    • I would have prefered the drive be smaller than to have the sliding mechanism
    • The SanDisk Extreme is one of the faster and better all around USB 3.0 drives.
    • Best and fastest Flash Drive I have ever tried.
    • Highly recommended if you're looking for a speedy flash drive.
    • Even on a USB 2.0 interface you can run an OS off this stick faster than a local (conventional) hard drive!
    • Takes longer to write than on a hard drive, however, its not worth my time to pack it up and return it
    • I'm getting 70 MB transfers which is 2.5 times faster than my USB 2.0 drives but certainly not the advertised 190 MB.
    • I already have bought one of these USB 3.0 32 GB drives, as well as some previous 16 GB drives
    • Other than that, it's a very fast drive, solidly built, and has a very large capacity.
    • Best flash drive I have ever owned
    • Good standard flash drive
    • So far, it does seem to be the fastest drive of the ones I've been using
    • I don't think that the drive (or really the software and instructions) are ready for prime-time on a Mac.
    • The best pen drive I already had with the best performance
    • It's even faster than my internal hard drive, a Western Digital Caviar Black (80MB/s per HD Tune)
    • I am enjoying this new flash drive.
    • One note, however, is that this drive will not do TRIM, even though the SSD controller supports it
    • I would recommend this flash drive if you work on many small files in your daily work.
    • so now I have the full 32GB available for use on a drive formatted as FAT32.What's left is a positively excellent flash drive that is fast, doing 25
    • I own a couple of other 64 GB USB 3.0 drives, but like this one the best.
    • For my business, I like to have an extra (granted cheap) flash drive or two in my laptop bag, so if I client needs a file, I can just hand them a clean flash drive, with nothing else on it, and if I don't get it back, that's OK.
    • Next best thing to an external hard drive.
    • I hate the drives with caps which I lose sooner than later
    • This is the single greatest flash drive I've ever used
    • sweet flash drive and very fast
    • Not long after I wrote the above section of this review, I did bump the drive while I had it plugged into a coworker's computer.
    • Shut down and remove the drive and boot up on the internal hard drive for normal computer work.
    • I use this to run PortableApps.com and it is as fast as if I ran the applications from my hard drive.
    • the plastic did feel kinda cheep, if you need a really fast flash drive you are probaly better off going with a patriot magnum have had mine for 5 months reformated it many times used it for everything has no signs of dieing will be going back to get another soon to replace this sandisk, kinda
    • Really fast for really big movies you passed in seconds and faster than a hard drive an smaller than a hardrive
    • This item is advertised as a "Flash Drive" however it appears as an external non-removable hard drive when you plug it in
    • I have found them to be more reliable and boot-compatible than cheaper drives.
    • Holds a lot and it's one of the best flash drives I've owned.
    • This is the best flash drive I have ever used.
    • For all other purposes these two drives have been "scary" fast.
    • If you have a traditional spinning-platter hard drive in your computer, the SanDisk is probably faster!Very solid-feeling retraction/extension mechanism with positive feedbackSufficiently sturdy to throw in a bag every day and take around with youCon:For some reason - SanDisk representatives say something about "Windows 8 certification" - this shows up on your computer as a hard drive rather than a USB flash drive
    • Look out for USB 3.0 devices that have slow chips on them, as they can be slower than good USB 2.0 drives.
    • Fantastic little drive
    • It's really good flash drive
    • From what I have read, it is usually recommended to use quick format unless you have reason to believe the drive is damaged
    • you are looking to take advantage of your computer's USB 3.0 capabilities, the SanDisk Extreme 32GB USB 3.0 Flash Drive is the perfect flash drive to get you started
    • With those drives, the entire drive is password protected
    • I love this drive.
    • I have not had a single problem with it, and is the best USB drive I have ever owned
    • That being said, this new Extreme 3.0 drive is about ten times faster than my previous drive
    • This thing really is the best USB drive.
    • I highly recommend this Sandisk Extreme 64GB flash drive because :(1)Its maximum read speed, 200 MB/sec is the fastest of all USB 3.0 or USB 2 flash drives tested including more expensive Lexar Triton, Verbatim V3 etc
    • I highly recommend this drive.
    • Great drive for the price.
    • There is a known issue with these new drives showing up as a disk instead of removable drive and Sandisk is not providing a flip bit utility like others, So if you can overlook that they are good drives with decent speeds
    • Fastest flash drive I've ever had
    • Very nice flash drive and very fast
    • The drive feel sturdy in my hand, certainly not the cheap plastic used in some flash drives.
    • Fast drive, still works well after using it for more than a year, but the plastic mechanism that extrudes or withdraws the physical interface breaks too easily.
    • Fast drive, still works well after using it for more than a year, but the plastic mechanism that extrudes or withdraws the physical interface breaks too easily.
    • Anyone seeking an elegant, solid, roomy, speedy flash drive should seriously consider the 32GB Extreme
    • It is the best thumb drive so far.
    • Better than some of the more expensive Lexar drives I've bought and had to return because they didn't open properly.
    • This is a fantastic flash drive that works without a hitch.
    • It took 14 minutes to copy about a gig of data from my old SanDisk USB 2.0 to my hard drive.
    • Best flash drive I've ever owned
    • Great flash drive and shipping was fast too.
    • This drive is also recognized as a standard hard disk, rather than a removable drive, and SMART reporting works.
    • I was using some inexpensive 8 gig flash drives for storing music backed up from a recording studio and they would take quite a while to load.
    • Extremely fast and the best flash drive I've ever used!
    • The drive works on both Macs and PCs and the save speed is really fast.
    • I hate to wait for slow file transfers, this is by far the fastest drive I have ever own, you can not go wrong with this.
    • I have one of those that I bought retail, and it's also a great drive
    • Another excellent flash drive at an economical price from a company you can trust to make quality.
    • Why wait on files when you don't need to?32 GB is a lot of files, and could take hours on a slow drive.
    • So, this flash drive serves as my hard drive
    • Bottom-line: It is well-worth the cost for this flash drive, even if you have a 2.0 usb port - this flash drive will still perform noticeably faster then older flash drives.
    • Super fast flash drive
    • The drive is a bit wide, and can interfere with neighbouring USB ports
    • This drive so far is fast enough for most programs to transfer quickly - depending how fast/slow your hard drive is
    • Have been using this drive for almost a year, and it has worked flawlessly.
    • I cherish this usb drive and its with me all the time.
    • So although speed-wise this seems to be currently the best drive (looking at both read and write performance, not just read performance), I will pass on this for a drive.
    • This is an incredibly fast pen-drive, even on USB 2.0 ports
    • I bought this drive for the USB 3.0 and it works great
    • One of the best usb drives I've used
    • Nonetheless, it IS a very fast drive.
    • I'm not saying that the drive is bad.
    • great drive, fast and no glitches at all.
    • This is THE best usb drive I've ever had
    • If you want the most compatible drive, do not get the 64GB version, there are issues with USB controllers properly accessing 64GB USB drives.
    • The speed is almost as fast as my SATAII internal hard drive.
    • Want a super-fast USB drive
    • This drive is capable of matching speeds with most other things.
    • The last point I feel is important because there are quite a number of cheap flash drives that do not support the ability to work as a bootable device
    • Thanks Amazon for offering us such a reliable flash drive
    • This drive was great
    • ye wants a great fast drive for their daily needs
    • Before purchasing it, I checked many online reviews and all of them praised this USB drive
    • Very Fast Flash Drive.
    • While weighing whether to purchase the 16GB or 32GB a light turned on, why buy a fast drive for 16GB files?
    • Love this flash drive
    • It is a fast USB drive
    • When plugging this in, the Windows system shows me that it was a local disk, instead of a portable drive as it usually does
    • Pricey but worth it in my opinion and its not the most expensive drive in the category.
    • It's the best flash drive which I've ever owned
    • This is a super fast drive but the encryption hung up on me and both wiped out the drive and created serious stability problems and two windows 8.1 notebooks.
    • But just because it's a usb 3.0 does not mean that it is as fast as other thumb drives
    • Fast drive.
    • There are cheaper drives, and you get what you pay for
    • The drive is a very standard width, and it certainly doesn't interfere with neighboring USB ports.
    • This is by far the fastest flash drive available to buy.
    • Very Fast Flash drive
    • The speed can be verified with a free software called atto, downloaded from the internet.(3)It is like carrying almost the fastest 10000 rpm hard drive in your pocket, is more reliable with no moving parts, is smaller 2.79 inch x 0.84 x 0.45 and uses much less electricity
    • When I opened the app (on my desktop), I could install the encrypting software (and it worked) -- but when I copied the app to the flash drive, it wouldn't work (even after I removed the original on my hard drive..6.
    • And I llike the easy to open/close design, since I hate flash drives that come with caps
    • I bought the 32 GB drive to use as a backup and a portable drive
    • I bought this during an Amazon lightning deal, but I'd have been happy even at full retail price (Amazon is half of that). It is hard to believe I now have a USB drive which is faster than the internal hard drive on a lot of systems.
    • This drive feels just as fast, if not faster, than my hard drive
    • When it’s plugged into a USB 2.0 port it isn’t quite as fast, but it’s still damn speedy and it still blows those cheap drives out of the water
    • Can replace a regular hard drive
    • Works just like a pocket SSD, USB 3.0, the fastest USB flash drive, activity light and a lifetime guarantee
    • This drive is a mess /it's software needs to be abolish /couldn't load software settings after update /// file /crash
    • The flash drive does with its own encryption software but Truecrypt is better.
    • But slower than the maximum reads and writes, 209 MB/s of Western Digital VelociRaptor WD1000DHTZ hard drive(1 TB, 10,000 rpm, SATA 6 Gbit/s)
    • I would definitely recommend this drive to anyone who needs consistently fast read and write speeds
    • It's an annoyance on older systems and with programs that attempt to exclude hard drives from listed storage mediums(like recovery media software), but not something you can fault Sandisk on
    • Works great, no complaints! The USB 3.0 drives are so much faster than the USB 2.0 drives
    • I hate flash drives with caps, I always loose the cap, so I always buy drives that retract.
    • Good Flash Drive
    • but I did return the favor by purchasing a western digital my passport 2 tb 3.0usb external hard drive
    • Very fast thumb drive
    • Very nice flash drive
    • Very fast drive.
    • Computers detect it as a hard drive, compared to a "Removable Disk" like other flash drives, no matter the formatting used with the drive
    • Great drive...
    • Puts hard drives to shame.
    • So if you actually want fast write speeds and are willing to pay a little more, then this is a great drive.
    • Great flash drive!I looked around a lot to find a fast usb 3.0 flash drive and this one didn't let me down
    • I highly recommend this thumb drive.
    • Whats the point of a 64 GB hard drive if you have to wait a day and a half to transfer a large amount of files?
    • Better than touting around an external hard drive.
    • good usb drive
    • Wasted the larger drive, maybe.
    • I will say this is the fastest USB flash drive I've used to date, though it's also the first USB 3.0 flash drive I've used for that matter
    • Very well priced flash drive with fast speeds
    • Solid reliable flash drive.
    • The drive is fairly sturdy but still plasticky feeling.
    • It took less than 10 seconds to copy the same data from my hard drive onto this key.
    • I also ran a HD Tune hard drive benchmark
    • This drive is worth the money
    • This drive will spoil you.
    • I can't really fault the drive for being bumped sideways, but it could be constructed of more durable materials
    • This has got to be the best flash drive I have ever purchased
    • A little temperamental, but a great USB drive.
    • I do sometimes miss the sturdiness of the Corsair, as this unit is definitely flimsier and gentle, but I believe it'll survive an occasional drop (hey, accidents do happen) and be a great flash drive for years to come.
    • If you have a USB 3.0 port this drive is very fast and it works with USB 2.0, but of course the limiting factor for 2.0 is the USB port, so you will not be able to see this products true potential.
    • THIS DRIVE IS A DISASTER
    • This is way faster than a normal spinning hard drive which is about 100MBs
    • Very fast pen drive, it works for PC and Mac'ssome users have reported issues on apple computers butit works for
    • The drive stays cool, which is nice
    • a "Local Disk".This causes incompatibility with software which uses flash drives like Microsoft own Windows 7 USB/DVD download tool (which creates a bootable Windows 7 flash drive) because the software cannot detect the flash drive because it appears as a hard drive
    • regarded as one of the best drives around, and rightfully so.
    • Best flash drive at this price that I had thus far.
    • CompatibilityThe drive is backwards compatible to USB 2.0.
    • Also, at this point, it is not possible to transfer a copy of the pdf files off the drive and it is not possible to transfer a file (for example, a Word file) from another hard drive to the
    • Fast, great USB drive
    • There are similar drives available for lower prices
    • System boots and operates about as fast using this drive as the system does using the enteral hard drive
    • Excellent drive
    • Love the flash drives by SanDisk!

    • Extremely fast drive
    • Love this flash drive
    • I recommend this pen drive, guys!~100 Mb/s for writeand
    • Its faster then any traditional laptop hard drive
    • The drive has severe issues when used with an Acer C720 Chromebook, so for all intents and purposes, this drive is almost useless for its intended purpose.

    • This drive works awesomely
    • Plus, the included SanDisk SecureAccessTM software† provides password protection for your private files while leaving the rest of the drive available for worry-free sharing"
    • The Linux partition is stable and the drive is fast enough to work as a boot drive
    • The Linux partition is stable and the drive is fast enough to work as a boot drive
    • I only wish Sandisk had sent me a newer one that reports itself as a FLASH DRIVE and not a HARD DRIVE
    • Outside of this very annoying flaw, this drive is almost perfect.
    • The throughput speed is as fast as by USB 3.0 external hard drive dock, and of course the seek times are much faster.
    • /s routinely as measured via windows ..transferring 77 MP4 files (18.7 GB) from Hard Drive to Flash Drive through a 6 foot extension cable
    • It's still good though, as it reads at around 60 MB/sec, which is almost as good as SSD drives over eSata
    • (And sometimes the larger drives are slower than the smaller ones, so remember that when qualifying my results). The cases of these two drives are very much different.
    • The sliding mechanism is robust and the drive is sturdy
    • This drive is quick as can be, but it does not like to be found by motherboards as a bootable device
    • This drive became horribly slow after a format in NTFS
    • Great little flash drive at a nice price
    • great flash drive very durable super fast speeds love the backwards compatibility with 2.0 usb ports and also hs a secure vault to encrypt all your private files
    • Since this is not really sensitive data she is backing up, we decided she didn't really need to use this software, she just simply wanted to copy the files to the USB for backup in case of loss of hard drive on
    • After using the flash drive for some time, I can definitely say this is the best flash drive I have ever bought
    • No USB 3.0 drive, even an external SSD, is very fast on this laptop
    • Definitely faster than my 150mbps USB 3.0 flash drive
    • and I use it as a Ready Boost Drive....
    • The throughput speed is as fast as by USB 3.0 external hard drive dock, and of course the seek times are much faster.

    • but perhaps it's limited to my laptop and/or the laptop's hard drive.
    • I keep this drive on my keychain, and love the read/write speed offered by USB 3.0, especially for quick backups or transfers of photo and video files between colleagues at work.
    • From a hardware standpoint, this seems like a good usb drive.
    • Extremely fast drive
    • Fast drive, but the real question is how long will it last?I've owned a number of Sandisk products and this is a pretty good one, but I often question the life of the unit
    • USB flash drives are almost a dime a dozen but for the price, SanDisk makes a great flash drive
    • this drive is screaming fast.
    • This is a great drive, highly rated, and large enough to back up a computer's hard drive
    • Fast and large drive definitely worth the price
    • Great drive, however, something broke off inside and now its frozen in the extended state.
    • This drive stands alone when it comes to dealing with small files (a requirement for a decent boot drive), and at this price, how can you afford not to buy
    • This probably isn't really a complain because I'm upgrading from a PNY USB 2.0 Metal (http://www.amazon.com/PNY-Metal-Flash-P-FDI16G-APPMT-GE/dp/B00BAZO2JE/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1404140607&sr=8-1&keywords=pny+usb+2.0+metal)Overview:I would strongly recommend this USB Drive to anyone and everyone, I've had phenomenal luck with SanDisk in times past, including the EXTREME MicroSD card I have for my 4k GoPro!
    • The best flash drive I've ever owned
    • MB/sby far the best flash drive you can buy

    • This drive has worked well for the 6 months that I have owned it.
    • The reviews online show that this is a very fast drive compared to others.
    • This is one of the fastest flash drives that I've ever owned, on both USB 3 and 2
    • I can open photos faster from this flash drive than from my 7200rpm hard drive.
    • Once you use this USB 3.0 flash drive, you won't want to got back to slower drives.
    • Very, very, very fast flash drive.
    • Even on usb2.0 it runs as fast as a spinning drive
    • It basically feels like you're running on a quick-ish hard-drive (think 7200-10000 rpm) except that multi-threaded IO ops can cause some slight lockups (nothing too serious so far).I can't say much for it's longevity since I just got the drive yesterday, but I was so impressed with the speed I had to post a review
    • This is a great drive and it is fast
    • I like the drive but they could have made it much shorter
    • The unauthorized access is critical if you lose your flash drive

    • I can move multi gigs of data in a few minutes instead of the 10+ minutes it might take on slower drives
    • Great Flash drive
    • This is my second pricey flash drive that claimed to be a beast
    • Hopefully the drive doesn't get damaged because of this.
    • The drive it's self is super clean and I make sure to eject it every single time from all the computers, but I would look else where if your concerned about it being reliable.
