If you want to add and organize your own favorite radio stations you must register the radio with the Frontier Silicon service

The radio menu provides built in options right out of the box to view all the stations by country, genre, local stations, podcasts, most popular station, recently added new stations

GREAT to have for travel if your local station is on the web, or if you work in a place with limited reception of FM signals.

It also may not support some stations that stream only via their own custom audio players

You can set up favorite stations on the Frontier Silicon web site and these will be available under a "my favorites" menu

It is easy to set up and use, and the stations available using the Frontier internet service are easy to obtain and program into the radio

but I prefer the far superior Grace Digital Wi-Fi Music Player with 3.5-Inch Color Display (GDI-IRC6000) (Black)and Logitech as they have all the top national and local stations as well as new content from companies like Pandora, SiriusXM internet radio, color displays, and support long lasting lithium ion battery packs

They are somewhat weak stations

You can not listen to Pandora or Jango or any of those popular stations though

Sure enough buttons for quick access to favorite stations - 5 pieces (Internet / FM).However, the receiver's menu, you can add lists of favorite stations, dividing them into different folders

For example it doesn't have CBS radio or Clear Channel / iheartradio station

Some stations have buffering problems a lot, some just once in awhile and the radio does try to re-connect.

The user has to become accustomed to a "boot-up" period of 30-60 seconds when the radio is turned on and a connection time delay as stations are changed

While the RADIO PORTAL is not the best one out there it doe's allow you to add URL's for you favorite stations that the service don't provide

I had some difficulty getting used to the strange way of navigating the menu system and entering text, but once it was set up my friend has been able to turn the radio on and pick one of the Favorite stations to listen to.

The bad news is that there are 12-16k stations available to listen to

It gives me enormous pleasure to wake up to Chicago's WFMT, the world's greatest classical music station, every morning

In the meantime, this radio has more than enough stations to keep me occupied

While local FM stations sound great, the FM tuner is less sensitive than other Sangean radios and weaker FM stations may not be receivable

There are evidently more features which are available when I get around to reading the manual, but for now, the stations I like (notably the CBC) can be received problem-free, and the 5 preset buttons are very useful in quickly going to our most frequently listened-to stations

The stations I have been able to install are often interrupted for whatever reason

The problem is all the other choices look either less appealing or about the same when they cost s fortune

In closing, it is an item an engineer might like as it provides many challenges to solve

The Sangean clearly wins as to handling Podcasts
