Swapped the new drive in for the dead drive.

The drive works perfectly.

On older computers without SATA 3 your hard drive's transfer speeds will be bottlenecked by the maximum speed of the motherboard

Great hard drive, could have been cheaper but exactly what I needed

I highly recommend this drive, it has plenty of space for pictures and downloaded video.

Purchased in Oct 2013, it worked until early 2015 where it suddenly started overheating terribly (I have a constant heat display which shows only the hard drive rising in temperature, until it is so hot it finally starts to impact nearby components)

I recommend this drive over any other, if the performance is not higher (Hitachi's are snoozfest), then the fail rate is much much lower (Samsung's new 1TB is notoriously bad, unacceptably high fail rate)

I ended up buying a different hard drive with more space that works great.

i got no responds from them about the no good hard drive they sold me

I already purchased a Western Digital high performance drive as a replacement for this failed drive, but I am hoping that I can get a refund of my purchase price.

That way, you get the full benefit of the speed -- no sense plugging a fast drive into a slow controller!

It's better to build your own External hard drives than buy one of those pre-bulit ones that don't even include an on/off switch!!Price is pretty good now ~$117 sale price (at B*****y).Better than the $125-130 sale price about 1 month

If I needed another hard drive, I would get a Seagate again!

Recently, I think Seagate is not longer a top notch manufacturer of fine hard drives and they are only running on their name like so many other companies have done in the past

I am not unacquainted with hard drive failures.

The current Seagate disk tool program does NOT include Acronis, starter or otherwise...but Seagate has left some of the ancient Acronis-related code in it, because when I was installing the SEAGATE software for my brand-new 4TB hard drive, it popped up a message that it couldn't install Acronis because a newer version was already installed

So far it's been a great trouble free drive.

The problem seems to be the hard drive circuit board (PCB) as the drive will not power up even with external docking stations

not good. also drive when it went in sleep mode would take as long 20-30 seconds to get out of sleep mode

The only complaint I'd have in this aspect is that Seagate is a bit slower to RMA bad drives than they used to be

I put this hard drive in an old Dell XPS which is a Core 2 Dual and BIOS didn't even see the drive.

Through much research I have discovered that these drives have advanced power management that will cause the head to park itself and slow down the speed of the hard drive to save energy

It pays to read the fine print, I guess, but if this is the case, I don't see how its any different to the "drive only" product ST2000DX001.Still a good drive in my opinion, but be aware of the extra pieces you may also need to order.

So I decided to splurge a little and replace it with this great 3TB hard drive

And this has sooo much space to fill that it will be the last hard drive I will ever need to buy

Well, this drive lasted 1 year and 10 months before it started making strange sounds and died

Faster booting than a pure rotational drive in El Capitan, a very slow booting Os on such drives

I have gone through several S.M.A.R.T test with several diagnostic tools and all passed with flying colors so it doesn't seem to be a failing drive.

Highly satisfactory drive so far.

Form factor: they should be called 3.5"+, because they are bigger than you average hard drive

my external harddrives are now becoming 1Tb hard drives since I build them myself with 1Tb internal drives and external Hdd enclosures

One bad drive could be a fluke but two defective out of two, after only eight and nine months of operation, makes this drive completely unrecommendable
