Seagate Backup Plus Hub 8TB External Desktop Hard Drive Storage + 2mo Adobe CC Photography (STEL8000100)

    • So, if you're getting significantly worse speeds than others are reporting, you have an issue
    • /s transfer speeds with the included USB3 cable, quite nice for the price.
    • It may not make a big deal in the future, since I don't plan on doing regular, MUCH smaller backups, so write speed won't be as important, but still disappointing.4.
    • I just hooked this up to the power source and then connected it via USB 3.0 (which is recommended for fastest speed)
    • Fast speeds
    • The only issue it when it writes to the disk its unbearably slow, read speeds are of a normal hard
    • 8tb is just about right and the speed is fast
    • A little slower write speed than the others I believe is because of the single layer drive type.
    • Overall, it offers the very high capacity I was looking for with adequate speed at a very appealing price.
    • i was able to fix my laptop and this had the speed size and capability to do awesome
    • USB 3.0 disks connected to it's HUB front connectors run at their top speed (think drive-to-drive copy bypasses the computer altogether), cellphones charge rather quickly...just too
    • Overall the speeds are great -- The extra ports in the front actually charge my iphone which is another big plus.
    • good transfer speeds
    • I run for a month normally and the speed (both read/write) is not that bad, with max around 120-
    • Rosewill PCI-E to USB 3.0 4-Port PCI Express Expansion Card (PCIe Card), 4 USB 3.0 Ports, Super Speed Up to 5Gbps, with 4 pin Male Molex Power Connector & Renesas Chipset
    • First one started out fine in a 2TB backup, speeding along, then slowed to a crawl and made grinding noises at the end
    • Very slow write speed out of the box
    • The drive has good write speeds, it can playback large video files no problem
    • The speed is great, hitting up to 240
    • Easy setup and fast speeds.
    • love the large capacity, and speed
    • The hard drive is an archive hard drive so you won't get very high speeds when backing up into the hard disk but when reading and finding things in it, its fast
    • For backups, top speed isn't really essential, so it works fine for me.
    • The tower is connected to the system box using a dedicated, pass through, PCIe, 7 port, super-speed USB-3.0 adapter
    • so I can better transfer some of the older data to the new External, is really fast transfer speed when using USB 3.0 from laptop or tower.
    • The limitation is definitely the write speed to the Seagate on the SMR drive
    • Excellent price point, great speed, overall a great device to have
    • 8TB had very slow transfer speed
    • The fastest write speed I saw was 23 MB/s
    • Good quality, and acceptable speed
    • This replacement drive is recognized, and reads and writes at reasonable speeds
    • They provide enough capacity and speed for photography and light video.
    • I can normally achieve consistent 60-80 MB/s in the previous BackUp Plus model but with this new model, my consistent transfer speed is about 30-45MB/s !?
    • The read speed is as expected on this drive of about 150 MBs, the write speed is a little slow at 58MBs
    • did not like the speed of it either
    • Very slow Write speeds
    • Transfer speeds are at top 3.0 speeds and 6 terabytes should last awhile for my purposes.
    • The only thing it is slow, I would look for something that has a faster speed
    • Excellent transfer speeds, generally Super fast, stylish case, so compact
    • I have other external hard drives with the thunderbolt connectivity which are multitudes faster than this USB 3.0 connection with this drive - however speed has not been an issue for time machine.
    • It set-up easily with my Mac, and backed up with respectable speeds
    • Decent speed, great storage
    • Essentially read speeds are fast, write speeds are slow
    • works great and fast speed.
    • I had sees some issues as to transfer speed, but I did not experience them.
    • Unless you are using it as a transfer drive to share huge files, speed should not be an issue and is negligible
    • High speed (up to 110MB/sec - laptop usb3.0 on Win7), useful.
    • The hub functionality works perfectly, allowing USB 3 speeds to connected devices - I actually connect additional drives through the hub and haven't seen any slowdown even when accessing three drives simultaneously
    • Great speeds on a 3.0 Port
    • I get decent speeds on this hard drive, which is satisfactory for my purposes of a general back up system for the computer's in my home
    • It is an SMR drive so writing can be a bit slow but read speeds are good and the price is fair so no complaints.
    • Having a 2-port hub doesn't make up for the terrible transfer speed
    • OverallThis is a solid drive with high capacity and good transfer speeds
    • I generally got sustained write speeds of 80-90 mb/s which is slow compared to a SSD but more than fast enough for a home NAS.I dropped a star because this specific unit was bad and threw up I/O errors around 2 days after receiving it.
    • Writes to this drive (8TB model) are unbelievably slow (1MB/s) when the drive is set up as HFS+ Encrypted.
    • I took the opportunity to run a AJA disk check (see accompanying photo) and got a respectable 156 MB/s Write and 165 MB
    • Incredible, i have always had s problem with externals
